Prime Blue Raspberry Energy Drink Review

The brand Prime showed up not just at my local Walmart but also my local Target, its stark logo reading very well off of an otherwise empty design. I like that- you can clearly recognize this among the energy drink crowd, and although it sounds like a silly thing to specifically call out, but having a can that makes sense with the flavor is always appreciated and is something others have a surprisingly difficult time doing.

This is sugar free, with old familiars sucralose and ace-k running the party, but the flavor is an explosion in "how" to manufacture a blue raspberry flavor. Mouthfuls are loud, sour like a child's candy but not errantly so; the synthetic sugars provide a bit of balance to the acidity, but this is still tart city. It mimics the non-fruit fruit flavor so well that you hardly notice the absence of any actual carbohydrates. But what makes this experience such a, well, experience, is the powdery texture, a carbonation that is simultaneously cozy and combative. It is encouraging of your next sip, and pretty soon you are shaking an empty can over your head looking for the last few drops. That, my friends, is the sign of a good energy drink.

What I care about is the 200 milligrams of caffeine. Oh sure, we have some vitamins and electrolytes, but my namesake stimulant is king, with the buzz lasting a very nice three hours. Overall, Prime Blue Raspberry makes quite a nice debut here, an imperfect but very, very solid product.
