Another citrus xenergy? Well, since their other citrus varieties are among the best of the line, I guess it isn't a bad thing. Lemon Blast is the sub name and flavour indication of the xenergy I'm the most excited to review. And despite the last flavour being a bit of a disappointment, I hope this can redirect the line back in the quality direction they previously followed so closely. Lemon Blast's can uses the same base design to the recent varieties, and the vivid yellow offsets and complements the dark black terrifically. But the red circle around the letters "xen," despite looking good among the other colours, doesn't seem to meaningfully add to the can nor does it serve any purpose.
xenergy Lemon Blast pours out with an impressive foam head, and the liquid itself is murky and uncoloured. Its taste begins with a fairly sweet lemon who leans more towards the sour side. The sourness rapidly declines in strength as more sips are taken, and replacing it is a two way cross of more sweetness and a newly appearing tartness. The sweetness doesn't taste artificial and it harmonizes with the lemon for most of the experience. The tartness is the weaker than the sourness it partway replaces, and it feels dazed within the sweetness. Following is a watery climax to the lemon that dilutes it to the point of blandness. But in the drinks favour, the sourness rebirths itself to a strength level far surpassing its earlier state. It's accompanied with a decently realistic sweetness that enhances the sourness by restraining it from over and outdoing itself. Acting as groundwork for the prior, the tartness from before recovers and prevents the whole thing from collapsing. The experience ends with the proceeding gently fading and a citric bite wholly appurtenant to it. The drinks carbonation is bubbly, joyful, and it was fitting throughout. Overall, Lemon Blast's taste reminded me much of lemonade, and while I didn't enjoy it as much as other xenergy's, it did the flavour justice in the sugar free realm.
Caffeine, guarana, taurine, ginseng, inositol, and a variety of B vitamins make up xenergy Lemon Blast's energy cocktail, and the kick was no less, though no better, than the other varieties. It took around twenty minutes after I finished the can to begin to feel energized, and once it began it continued gradually til it peaked at the three hour mark. It then lasted about one hour longer. All in all, like the past two xenergy's, I paid $1.50 for Lemon Blast, which is a bit less than I'd say it's worth. While it did fall short of greatness, it was too tall to be considered bad.
