Mtn Dew Summer Freeze Zero Sugar Soda Review

What bothers me most about the way this Mtn Dew looks is how it reads "Zero Sugar Summer Freeze," where as my friend the interwebs has it organized "Summer Freeze Zero Sugar." Either I am wrong, or the company is, which is such a silly distraction from the goofy visuals. Sure it is busy, but that is the point, though somebody tell Pepsico that "summer Americana" is not a flavor.

It only took a sip or two for my brain to start working; I have tasted this before. A quick search on the premier database for energy drink reviews, The Caffeine King, floods my mind back with memories of a simpler time, namely 2011 and Diet Mtn Dew Voltage. Oh I am sure there are some subtle differences, I mean it is not like I have a bottle of sugar free Voltage kicking around for over a decade just for this moment, but it does not matter on the tongue. Blue raspberry, fake to the fullest order, explodes with its candied simplicity as you take your first mouthful, a slightly powdery puckering playing in the back of your throat. I wish I could report that there was some other flavor but I am afraid not- this is a one-note experience that at least gets it right that us dumb Americans like things simple, sweet, stupid and synthetic.

The best thing here is the sixty eight milligrams of caffeine in each can, which is a bit excessive for a non-energy drink, but hey, that is America baby! Overall, Mtn Dew Summer Freeze Zero Sugar drinkable and nostalgic but probably not for the right reasons.
