Mtn Dew Typhoon Soda Review

I don't like the name to Mtn Dew Typhoon. It would not of been my first choice, as I would have picked something a bit more menacing like "Storm" or "Tempest," as Typhoon sounds more fitting as a water park than a soda. Like Distortion and most other Dews, Typhoon's label is cluttered with a crowded background pattern. However, the actual design itself is interesting to look at and quite attractive, so the whole bottle ends up being sort of a mixed bag. Like past soda reviews, I'm adjusting my review style, as Typhoon is not an energy product.

The flavour initially is an artificial cross between blue raspberry and blueberry; both with a low level of sweetness, but there's still a syrupy quality to it. There's fairly noticeable lime and cherry notes trailing behind the previous blend, and while they both taste fake and are quite sweet, they don't taste candy-like. None of the fruits have any tartness or sourness to them, which almost destroys their natural identity. Typhoon is very smooth and has minimal carbonation, and the experience ends subtly, with a light syrupy coat left across your mouth. While much more distant from the original Mtn Dew than Distortion was, Typhoon still isn't unique or enough of its own flavour to be enjoyed.

Mtn Dew Typhoon, like most other sugared sodas available, is a large reason why obesity is such a problem. While it has ten less calories than Distortion did, it has the same amount of sugar; too much(seventy six grams). In the end, while I would rather drink Typhoon over Distortion, it's hard to find a reason to drink either of them.
