rip it Citrus X Sugar Free Energy Drink Review

While I certainly like the favouring of silver over the orange found on Citrus X regulars can, the silver is just bland and unexciting with the design. The rip it design is only as good as its colours, which is why some cans I praised, and some I criticized. It's a shame for the colouration, as several aspects of the can are actually good and should go on to be staples for the whole industry. Take for example the amount of text; it's fairly minimal, and yes while having the line "sugar free" along with "0 Calories, 0 Carbs" is redundant, it's the only instance of unnecessary text and it doesn't hamper the cans easy to read and clean look.

An artificial though fairly soft orange taste with a balanced sweetness and tartness begins the experience. Following is an unexpected spearmint that isn't minty but does give it a bit of a cooling effect. You can't actually taste the mint, you can only feel its impact. It's subtle, short lived, and for the most part shrouded by a tangerine tail that quickly attaches itself to the orange. The tangerine is a bit less sweet than the orange, but the tartness is higher slightly and complements a slight sourness newly present. The sourness brings along a grapefruit note that's congested by the prior two fruits. The grapefruit doesn't appear with its own sweetness but instead fractionally leeches off the tangerine's. There's then a strong citric presence that, along with an equally strong sweetness, finishes the experience. The drinks overall sweetness is highly synthetic tasting, but there are few instances where the level of sweetness gets high enough for it to become unpleasant. More often than not, the focus is left upon something the sugariness accompanies, and not on itself. This distracts the drinker from noticing the artificiality frequently. This and a fierce carbonation give rip it Citrus X Sugar Free an edge over most other sugar free orange energy drinks, most notably DNA Citrus Sugar Free. Both tasted similar, but some of DNA's rough patches are either refined or not found in Citrus X. However, among sugar free energy drinks, there are better tasting fruit flavours(like lemon or cherry) than orange.

Caffeine(200mg), taurine, guarana, inositol, vitamin C and a variety of B vitamins are among the highlights of diet Citrus X's energy cocktail. I had energy lasting for about three and a half hours before I began slowly drifted back, but it took around a half an hour for me to reach my normal state. Like most sugar free energy drinks, there wasn't a crash. Overall, there are better tasting, looking, and kicking energy drinks in the sugar free realm, but most will probably retail for more than what rip it Citrus X does; one dollar.
