Adrenaline Shoc is an interesting Big Lots find as it was not heavily discounted- I paid full price here! It is another entry in the growing field of "workout energy drinks," made popular, and butchered, by the Bang brand. The can stimulates mixed feelings- although refreshingly clean, my eyes nearly passed over this barren bunch of aluminum as my eyes scanned over the discount store's ice chest.
The flavor is a pleasant surprise, taking fewer cues from Red Bull and Monster and going for something more inspired, rather than "inspired by" another drink. Passive passion fruit is the main attraction here, a fruit almost solely exploited had it not been for unconfident observations of guava and apple. It adopts an aggressively artificial characteristic with a strong dose of chemical aftertaste, but your tastebuds are wisely distracted by the athletic acidity that dominates the second half of every imbibe. It is this tartness that is the real winner here, one that is just enough to make your lips pucker ever so slightly. Sucralose and ace-k are given charge of sweetness, and is ceremony here treads the line between clogging your palate with intense synthetic sugariness and keeping the 300 milligrams of caffeine in check. Unfortunately carbonation is the loser here, an apathetic effervescence that has ounces sipping as if they were flat; we have a full-sized drink here, we need the excitement!
The buzz, thanks to all that sweet aforementioned caffeine, is a rocking four hours in length. Other ingredients include: electrolytes, BCAAs, B vitamins, ginseng, and guarana. To end, Adrenaline Shoc looks, tastes, and kicks better than it really has any right to.
