C4 Sour Batch Bros Zero Sugar Energy Drink Review

The confit trend in energy drinks continues with C4 and their "Sour Batch Bros," going so far as to have the word "candy shoppe" stand proud at the top of the shrink-wrapped and textured label. Unlike its competitors however, the present wordplay is playful and cute, however, is that something with 300 milligrams of caffeine wants to be called?

Well I suppose I should have been prepared- I mean, the word "sour" is in the name! You guessed it- this thing is tart! But that is a good thing, as it engulfs each and every taste bud, clasping on a most curt acidity that immediately makes your lips crinkle in response. This provides two benefits: first being the associated mouthfeel. It is that unusual "powdery" texture, sort of the "antithesis" to the more common gumminess present in plenty of potent potables. It simulates the type of toothsomeness an actual conscientious, caloric confection would introduce, as your tongue wrestles to grip the malleable liquid. Second, and perhaps most importantly, it combats the diet sweeteners completely. Sucralose and ace-k, the synthetic sugariness present, are not exactly known for their gentle approach, and with so many supplements and stimulants to control, it could have easily overwhelmed sips to the point of ghastliness. That does not happen here, at least not in the foreground. The flavor itself is irrelevant in an experience like this- your body preoccupied by the outrageous astringency. Lime, lemon, orange, grape and guava, probably others and probably not some I listed, are all melted into an indistinct cocktail, a sort of citrusy fruit punch that rests on the cusp of being refreshing. Of course, that is only if you can tear back the curled edges of your lips after you deplete the final drip from the aluminum walls.

That 300 milligrams of caffeine places the power squarely along the lines of the popular Bang brand. Drinkers should anticipate roughly three and a half hours of energy, though my legs did find themselves jittering like I had consumed a bag of Sour Patch Kids. Of course, that is the product's inspiration, and C4 Sour Batch Bros Zero Sugar is about as good as the thought of "drinking liquid candy" can ever be.
