C4 Fruit Punch Energy Drink Review

Black and red with silver trim, C4 Fruit Punch makes a solid first impression, or at least a bold one compared to the brighter, if not more fun looking potent potables it neighbors on the energy drink shelf. But the can here is busy, the thin stroke for the logo making it more difficult to note the brand than it should.

Pouring out clear instead of the predicted crimson, C4 Fruit Punch tastes just OK, the 300 milligrams of caffeine proving to be too big a challenge for the diet sweeteners sucrose and ace-k to obscure properly. This cuts down on the time the actual flavor has on the tongue, as the liquid quickly becomes medicinal, with an aftertaste of chemicals that compounds with every subsequent sip. As for the fruit punch itself, there is a solid cherry base, with a pleasant punch, pardon the pun, of pineapple, guava and lime. But there is a missing link here, an element this excessively saccharine elixir oh so desperately needs: acidity. What sourness we have is passive and pushed aside by the sugar free sugars, which kinda misses the point. Your thirst should be quenched, but it is not, so you sit there, crestfallen by your choice of cockstail.

But that kick! The buzz is rock-solid, lasting three and a half hours easy. Additional ingredients, and there are a lot, include vitamins, taurine, amino acids, and others. Overall, C4 Fruit Punch has the potency that folks probably are looking for. It is just a shame that, like this drink, they do not have better taste.
