Rehab

While I am addicted to caffeine, I doubt I'll ever enter rehab. I enjoy the buzz and the sometimes impressive ways companies are able to hind the caffeine bitterness. I mention this because while at my local Big Lots, along with Xenergy Cran Razz, I found Rehab energy drink. Well, technically it's not considered an energy drink, and instead a recovery supplement. Since it contains caffeine and many other typical energy drink ingredients, I've decided to give it a try. I have absolutely no idea what to expect from Rehab. While it's unlikely that it'll be so addicting that I'll have to check myself into rehab, I do feel that this will be one unique experience.

FIRST IMPRESSION: The can to Rehab that I had was different from the others I've seen, so I figured my can was a shrink wrapped redesign. But to my surprise, the shrink wrap was actually covering a completely different printed design all together. Now, let me ask a perfectly good question, why would they even consider doing such a thing? The shrink wrap design isn't all too different from the inside print can, and I couldn't find any typo's or mistakes on the inside print can, so I have no clue why they covered it. The only real problem with the covered print can is that the text is rather hard to read, but that's certainly no reason to shrink wrap the can. But, if I look past the strange shrink wrap incident, the overall can isn't terrible, and instead rather attractive.

TASTE: I opened the can and took a sip. The flavour starts out a light cotton candy that is mildly sweet. The cotton candy is blended seamlessly with several other flavours, namely cherry and blue berry, and they taste artificial. The whole flavour ends quickly, and the only thing left is a faint cotton candy taste. With only five grams of sugar, Rehab isn't very sweet, which is surprising given that the flavour is very candy-like. The carbonation is faint, creating an almost bubbly sensation. Overall, while not highly complex or intriguing, I really enjoyed drinking Rehab. Its generally fun flavour was surprising and pretty original.

KICK: Each can contains: 120mg of caffeine, green tea extract, Vit B3, B5, B6, B12, panax ginseng, guarana, coenzyme Q10, and catechins. This overall blend isn't as potent as most energy drinks, but since it's not labeled as an energy drink, I really can't complain. For around two or so hours, I felt refreshed, and had a marginal amount of energy. I didn't get any jitters, and I didn't receive a crash once the two+ hours ended.

FINAL WORD: Rehab is not your average drink. It's not exactly labeled as an energy drink, so I can't really criticize it for not having an exceptional kick. I can, however, criticize the nutty shrink wrap can complication. But, that's really all I can be harsh about. The design of the wrap was sufficient, and the taste was satisfying. All in all, my rating of Rehab doesn't matter. I doubt the hard core energy junkie is going to consider Rehab, and I doubt the average consumer will buy it either. Rehab belongs to a niche market, so for the few people who read this review and went "that's the drink for me," then guess what, it probably is...3/5
