Arizona Rx Energy is an ugly misrepresentation of the industry, with it pulling all the wrong moves in terms of both text and visuals. Hailing itself as an herbal tonic, this 330 calorie beverage is far from healthy, and anything positive brought about by the meager ten percentage of juice is lost within the careless load of sugar. And pictorially, you could not get much less appealing than this ninety nine cent drink, with the large lackluster black and white image only adding to the miserableness of an inappropriately verbose can.
To be honest, all of the ample available sips are rather pleasant, with its light citrus taste barely breaking out of that of the green tea. Everything is surprisingly smooth, almost incredibly so, and large gulps ensue and finish the twenty three ounces fast. There is an edge of tartness to the sweet taste of mango, though it is a dissatisfying depiction of the tropical favourite. Lemon is present as well, a bit more potent to the tongue, and it benefits from the latter's acidic characteristic. I'd even wager the simple presence of guava, and the restrictively rough texture gives the three tastes a pulp allusion that is easily their only essence of authenticity. Things are surely sugary, some from honey but mostly from high fructose corn syrup, however the experience basks in the saccharinity almost proudly, and the expected syrupy finish is playfully present and does not keep one from ever taking the next sip. Overall, Arizona Rx Energy's flavour is one that is unashamed to be such a guilty pleasure.
Each can gets you 115mg of caffeine, guarana, ginseng, and vitamins A,C, and E. This bland blend could not ever dream of giving a junkie their daily fix, providing nothing but an hour, maybe hour and a half long buzz. All in all, Arizona Rx Energy is a tasty mess of uneven quality.
this is my favorite energy drink I wish there was a low/lower cal version. I think the stores do not stock it as I would by it and not the $2-3 can of monster.
ReplyDeleteI love this engery drink... especially the price, $1
ReplyDeleteThis drink has always been my go to, especially when I want to wean myself off of red bull. It give me a smooth happy boost of energy without the crash at the end.
DeleteSeriously, they aren't that bad as a beefed up alternative to an Arnold-Palmer, but with different flavors and better herbs thrown in that other teas, or even energy drinks. It's not going to fix a junkie, but I have also fallen asleep right after a whole name-brand 5-Hour Energy and still fell asleep at work on my break.
DeleteThe price is great, the energy - okay. The big bummer is the number of calories it packs for the minor buzz and all the high-fructose corn syrup destroys any semblance of a healthy afternoon treat.
ReplyDeleteMy fav drink - it works amazing for me without the side effects of higher caffeine drinks. flavor is a personal thing - different chemistries etc. For me it's the best and I'll cry if they quit making it. I would pay more if it used natural sugars.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't have said it better myself.
Deletei just love the stuff i'd love it even more if it was made with natural sugar though, people think it's tea but to me it kinda tastes like fruit punch it just sits well with my tongue though all the caffeine doesnt do much then like drinking a can of pepsi for me it's really really good just wish it was made with real sugar not that HFCS stuff i love the prince but im willing to pay 5 bucks for it if it uses real sugar
ReplyDeleteIt's like a caffeine addict's pedialyte. Not much caffeine, but enough to stave off a migraine, put some vitamins into your system, tastes syrupy sweet, and would likely make a tasty hangover cure paired with a tall glass of water. And it's cheap, which I can appreciate. Also, I don't know what's in it, but I'm a seasoned caffeine drinker, and something in here must have added itself to the effects of my ADHD meds, but I had mildly trembly hands while drinking this the other day, which is a side effect I need to drink at least three cups of coffee in a row plus a redbull or two to get otherwise. Hmmm....
ReplyDeleteIts most likley do to the good combination of 'Stems'the have in there.. Pretty packed with them...
DeleteSo my Dr. said my potassium levels are through the roof. I'm a coffee drinker and suffer from migraines and coffee helps. I've tried to replace my coffee habit with other things and was just not satisfied. I stumbled across this at a convenient store and decided to try it( I had had just weaned a migraine) I was feeling lethargic. But within 20 minutes of drinking this I definitely felt better. Brain fog gone. It only lasted a few hours but that was enough time to get myself motivated
DeleteI like the taste doesn't give me much energy but I've noticed a side effect it's causing me to pee way more than normal multiple times it just seems like it has a weird effect on my whole bladder not do to the volume because I drink a lot of fluids anyway just something about itI just never feel like I'm done anyone else having this affect? I tested to see if it was just the Arizona or maybe I was just thinking that but when I don't drink it I don't have that problem even with other forms of Arizona drinks.
ReplyDeleteThis has caffeine. Peeing a lot is a side effect of any caffeine bevarge.
DeleteLimit the amount you drink. On the occasions that I consumed two in a morning AGREED, and I was on road trips both times. 😵
DeleteI have to disagree with this. I work in a gas station and the public loves it. We sell single customers cases of 25 numerous times throughout the week and even have some who drive out of there way for it.
ReplyDeleteBest Arizona I've ever had, & the bottle ones are only 100 calories.
ReplyDelete100 per serving, 2.5 servings per bottle
DeleteI love this drink as well! The reviewer scorns the small amout of juice and the use of HFCS but how is that any different than other energy drinks? I mean this has got to be better than a 24 oz can of Monster. I personally like the lower caffeine levels but would also appreciate a low cal version. For the record, Arizona does make another energy drink named Caution Energy that actually replaces this drink. I've haven't tried it yet but it comes in standard and low cal versions. Based on the per case price of $17 on Arizona's website, it should come in at about a $1 for the 11oz can. Here's hoping!
ReplyDeleteEasily, EASILY, my go-to drink for that little boost that I may need during the day. It doesn't have the massive kick some other energy drinks may have, but the kick that it does have is so smooth and wonderful that you don't even remember why you're so alert sometimes. Can't beat the price, or the taste in my opinion. Sure it's sugary - Arizonas in general are the Sun Chips of the beverage world. They like to play it off as being healthy when in reality there are far better things to be drinking. But that doesn't bother me. Nothing about this magnificent energy drink bothers me. It is just that good.
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree. Love it. I am curious what qualities it as 'RX' though. Was always my fav among the RX series.
DeleteI also find it a great tasting drink with a mild pick me up. but it is getting harder to find, It isn't on the Arizona website.Certainly in the supermarkets for 99c. but 7/11 still stocks them at just over a $1
ReplyDeleteI've actually been drinking these for the last 3 weeks solid, and feel a lot better than when I was drinking Red Bull or Monster.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about cutting back on those 2 for various reasons, and this is the perfect thing to ween me off. Plus, saving money is always a good thing.
Thank you for getting me to re-evaluate the sugars in this drink. 78g per can!! D: Can you say insulin desensitivity?
ReplyDeleteAll of you should be aware: in addition to its caffeine containing herbal contents, this drink also has eleuthero (aka Siberian Ginseng) and schizandra. I can't remember the pharmacology offhand, but I know the herbalist community calls them adaptogens--a loaded term meaning "a plant or chemical that helps the body deal with stressors in some unexplained way." But I know them to at least be active in some way from past experience. For the person saying they were peeing a lot from this drink, I'm guessing one of these herbs is a diuretic.
Tea in itself is a known diuretic same for coffee
DeleteI really like this drink. The taste is so even and refreshing. I get a nice even span of energy from this drink. The bottle version, 20 oz. has only 100 calories as mentioned prior. I would rather natural sugar too. The Nutritional facts indicate that there's 100% vitamin C. In addition there are no artificial colors and flavors. I really enjoy it but personally can't enjoy as often due to the caffeine.
ReplyDeleteMy all time favorite drink it might not be as strong as some other energy drinks but you get a lot for your money and its not as bad for you.
ReplyDeleteI concur totally with what anonymous, above, had to say. It's also a great tweener if you're trying to wean off of Red Bull or Rockstar...or even coffee.
ReplyDeleteI have A-fib and it's small amount of caffeine to a half can doesn't affect my cardio rithym, no unwanted buzz, no shakes, just a mild pick-me-up.
ReplyDeleteIt may not be good for you, but it's still better for you than some drinks like monster, full throttle, or red bull
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy this drink after a long shift ille go out of my way for a can of this its a inexpensive light pick me up for the drive home
ReplyDeleteWho the hell wrote this article I love this drink i put it this way its a lot better than monster or red bull health wise
ReplyDeleteIT'S THE HERBS KIDS:
ReplyDeleteI'm in a very big hurry right now and just needed to find out how much caffeine is in this. What the writer is unaware of is that the herbal extracts in this drink are what separates it from the rest. I do not know much about these herbs compared to say, quercetin, or artichoke extract; but they do appear to be psychoactive if you research properly - "Effects of schizandrol A on monoamine neurotransmitters in the central nervous system" (Zhang L1, Niu X.) This is a problem, because as one commenter noted, it made his hands shake with his stimulant medication when caffeine doesn't.
If you are going to be drinking drinks like this or taking meds, you should at least be familiar with the chemistry behind the CNS imo. I'd look into r-alpha lipoic acid and NAC if you take hardcore stimulants daily... But then again this looks like a site for normal people :)~
This is not just an energy drink, but it's a dietary supplement. I can drink it and I won't be hungry for the next 6hours. if I would change this drink I would lower the sugar milligram.
ReplyDeleteI love this drink. It's cheap and it's great all over, though, I wish it used natural sugars instead. I even use it to control my weight. It curves my appetite & I even use it to stay in a good mood, being that I suffer from severe depression. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, but what about the benefits of the herbs used in this drink?
ReplyDeletePanax ginseng is used for improving thinking, concentration, memory and work efficiency, physical stamina, and athletic endurance.
Some people use Panax ginseng to help them cope with stress and as a general tonic for improving well-being. They sometimes call Panax ginseng an “adaptogen” when it’s used in this way.
Panax ginseng is also used for depression, anxiety, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), for boosting the immune system, and for fighting particular infections in a lung disease called cystic fibrosis. These infections are caused by a bacterium named Pseudomonas.
Some people use Panax ginseng to treat breast cancer and prevent ovarian cancer, liver cancer, lung cancer, and skin cancer.
Other uses include treatment of anemia, diabetes, inflammation of the stomach lining (gastritis), fever, hangover, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and asthma.
Panax ginseng is also used for bleeding disorders, loss of appetite, vomiting, intestinal problems, fibromyalgia, sleeping problems (insomnia), nerve pain, joint pain, dizziness, headache, convulsions, disorders of pregnancy and childbirth, hot flashes due to menopause, and to slow the aging process.
Some men use Panax ginseng on the skin of the penis as part of a multi-ingredient product for treating early orgasm (premature ejaculation). Men also use it for erectile dysfunction (ED). There is some evidence that Panax ginseng is effective for these uses.
Eleuthero Root or Siberian ginseng is a plant. People use the root of the plant to make medicine.
Siberian ginseng is often called an “adaptogen.” This is a non-medical term used to describe substances that can supposedly strengthen the body and increase general resistance to daily stress.
I don't have ED but it really works to get the blood pumping and the surge of stamina I need for fatigue from lack of sleep/long working hours
DeleteThanks
DeleteI don't think it is very effective as an energy drink BUT it is the only thing I've found that cures my menstrual cramps. I don't know what ingredients in it do the trick but it is a life saver!
ReplyDeleteThe best herbal tonic drink their is, end of story.
ReplyDelete"all of the ample available sips"? Who's being verbose here?
ReplyDeleteIts now 100 calories!
ReplyDeleteFor 1/3 of bottle
ReplyDeletejust bought a can gonna try it at lunch
ReplyDeleteI honestly love this stuff. I have horrible migraines and ever since I started drinking these on a semi- daily basis I have had significantly less migraines. Idk for sure if the two are linked but I'll take any help I can get!
ReplyDeleteI dislike it, too bitter and no flavor. Has a very odd taste to me and it's very unhealthy
ReplyDeleteThis thing must have a ton of markup, Woodmans in Sun Prairie Wisconsin has it on sale two for one dollar!
ReplyDeleteI'm in California and it was on sale here for the same price. Now its back to $.99
DeleteI love this drink. It is smooth and I don't crash like past energy drinks I've tried. This is a good find. I'll give up a snack food for the 330 calories it packs. Just my opinion.
ReplyDeleteMrs Taylor
taste good i like had a cold took it for the vitamins
ReplyDeleteI tried this drink and got addicted to them.
ReplyDeleteThis drink is Super Excellent! I wish it was sold in more stores in Wichita Falls TX. I can only find it at one gas station in my city. I am drinking it now! I work for AT&T and I will put a can in a container with ice daily for the past week & it seems to help clear the clouds in my brain! Absoulutely love it!
ReplyDeleteI live in Baltimore MD I love it it's smooth in taste and keep me calm not making feel drained like a rock star would later in the day I could drink at least 2 in one day it's more healthier
ReplyDeleteI love Arizona Herbal Tonic, my only gripe, is inconsistency. I drink so much of this stuff over time that I noticed that sometimes the flavors are bad. This is what I say when I get one. "Ahhhh man bad batch." I don't get sick but almost seems like the batch when taste off has too much gingsing. Its very bitter. When I get a good batch I love it.

ReplyDeleteShake well. Tastes better.
DeleteYeah, all i drink for work is this basically. I always eat lunch at gas stations so i decided i should cut back on lunch cost. I thought, "ok, so for my drink, it probably cant be an energy drink as they are usually expensive, so at least let me try out a cheap juice or juice-like beverage that is refreshing". So as i searched around i noticed the strange bottle, i had tried Arizona juice drinks before and teas as well, but i had no idea they sold energy drinks. So i check the price and it said $1! I was amazed. I bought it with no expectations of it being an adrenaline injection like those other energy drinks, but to my surprise, it had a modest energy boost for its worth! And the taste was waaaay more pleasant than other energy drinks as well.

ReplyDeleteNah it's good.
ReplyDeleteHey I'll say it's delicious, but like anything in life, too much of a good thing is almost always a bad thing.
ReplyDeleteI loveee thisss drink, on the way to buy a case, as we speak!
ReplyDeleteI've been addicted to this for years.
ReplyDeleteI Love this drink for a afternoon pick me up. Coffee in the morning and RX in the afternoon.
ReplyDeleteThis is by far the most powerful energy drink on the market.
ReplyDelete20 ounces provides a powerful three day buzz that keeps me running at top speeds. You have to have a high metabolism to feel the benefits of the synergy of the ingredients used. The sugar usually gets burned off due to the extreme energy boost and more so this is a fantastic health drink for losing weight fast!
5 hour energy, red bull and monster don't even hold 1 percent of what this energy drink can do if you're somewhat athletic.
Arizona RX tea is the best thing that I've found to keep me on my feet. It does help with my energy level and I love the taste, but the best part for me is that it actually helps alleviate the pain in my back and leg from spinal stenosis. I go from not being able to walk to the kitchen because of the pain that shoots from my back to my feet and eventually starts to burn like fire, to standing, walking and working for 6hours with only a twinge. This tea has become the answer to me being able to work.
