America might run on Dunkin', but The Caffeine King sure don't. What we have here is another RTD product from the license, after 2019's dismal "Shot in the Dark," and the can is a busy mess of redundant text. Most scrolls from left to right, but "cake batter donut" has no business being written twice, and in two different sizes!
The flavor is, well, its about as white as coffee a consumer could order to go alongside their literal donut. There is no baked good goodness here, oh no, just marketing fluffery to describe what really ends up being "vanilla." That is not itself a bad thing, but being mislead feels bad, man. With six grams of fat, four of which are saturated, mouthfuls are heavy and luxurious, with any more than the provided eleven ounces probably proving too much for a single sitting. Yet the biggest issue is the complete lack of actual coffee taste; sips come and go without any bitterness tickling the back of your tongue, no acidic bite to help perk you up on a lazy Sunday morning. This is what we so often call a caffeinated milkshake, New England-style.
There is no mention of being an "energy coffee," but the 135 milligrams of caffeine involved do a decent job giving you a reason for waking up. Overall, Dunkin' Cake Batter Donut Iced Coffee is drinkable, but frustratingly just so.
