Gatorade Fast Twitch Orange Energy Drink Review

Does it make sense for Gatorade to enter the energy drink market? I dunno, but it sure makes for one hell of a conversation piece, if you can find someone who cares. As for me, I cannot get past its lackluster packaging, from the ugly combination of orange and green that just sears the eyes with its ungainliness.

The flavor is fortunately far better than the brand's Cool Blue version, but that means little when you remember just how awful that potable was. The non-carbonated elixir bathes the tongue with a most stereotypical orange taste you can imagine, a saccharinity from sole sweetener sucralose that succumbs to the acidic insufficiency; the sourness so desperately needs a shot of excitement to shock this otherwise lifeless liquid into something worth sipping. I gulped ounce after ounce and wished it was almost anything else.

The brand's 200 milligrams of caffeine is a lifesaver when you realize just how unappetizing and ugly this is. Expect a buzz in the ballpark of three hours, but during that time you just sit there and think back to how much you had to suffer through to get that stimulant feeling flow throughout your body, and ask yourself: was it worth it?

Gatorade Fast Twitch Cool Blue Energy Drink Review

Gatorade, of all companies, tosses its hand in the energy drink ring with Fast Twitch. The name is clunky and to my knowledge, has nothing to do with the parent product, but whatever. As The Caffeine King's resident non-doctor, I am unsure of the validity of caffeinated workout drinks; are they healthy? I dunno, and the internet is only so accurate, but the bottle does have the "NSF certified sports" logo, so clearly someone, somewhere, thinks so.

"Cool Blue" is not a flavor, it is a combination of two descriptors. Not only that, but the color is more of a dark purple, but I digress. Upon first sip, we are hit with a wall of synthetic sweetness, all from sucralose. It fails to even resemble something not found from a lab, seizing your tongue into complete submission, leaving it deadened in your mouth. It just takes the pounding of diet sugariness until that is all you taste, no acidity to come to the rescue, which honestly should have been a present characteristic regardless. Blue raspberry and blueberry are the fruits who end up actually showing up, but who cares? Your palate is so disenfranchised by this point that it would have taken an entirely different energy drink to revive it.

We do have a very solid 200 milligrams of caffeine, along with some B vitamins and electrolytes, and the buzz is pretty good three hour long one. But it was honestly an awful journey to get there. Overall, Gatorade Fast Twitch Cool Blue sucks eggs.
