Rip It Tribute Zero Sugar Energy Drink Review

Sporting a slightly spruced up metal transport, with mildly adjusted colors and visuals, the biggest difference to Rip It Tribute's diet cousin since we last saw it is the swap from "sugar free" to "zero sugar." I suppose the new term markets better, but it is too large, too stylized and too out of place with its font choice and angled text; for a can covered in camouflage, it sure sticks out like a sore thumb.

Rip It Tribute barrels out of the can and immediately dies an unceremonious death, mouthfuls are sporadically sour, for sure, but they lack any mouthfeel, cruising past the palate and down the hatch like a generic seltzer drinks when it is the only thing left to sip. The mandarin orange is the sweeter of the two fruits, but its reliance on sucralose and ace-k leaves things with a weightless texture and an artificial aftertaste; my tongue was never fooled into believing anything other than synthetic sweeteners were summoned. The lime is where the acidity lies and I wish the beverage leaned heavier into the tartness realm, if only to help it stand out. Carbonation is at least cocksure and helps the experience live a little, but this is sixteen ounces of missed opportunity to right a slight wrong committed to The Caffeine King on May 25, 2019. Instead, the world-renowned energy drink critic again suffers mildly.

Much like the can and taste, the buzz here is stuck in the potent potable past. With 160 milligrams of my namesake stimulant and a familiar blend of vitamins, taurine and others, the kick is a functional two hour long but entirely stock one. But do not get me wrong here, Rip It Tribute Zero Sugar is generic as hell, but it is cheap, drinkable and contains caffeine- that alone is worth something.

Carabao Mandarin Orange Energy Drink Review

Mandarin Orange is the flavor, so orange is the color. It all makes sense on this unremarkable looking drink, but it cuts out any unnecessary fluff and goes straight into telling you what it is and is not.

Your first sip tricks you; your tongue lulled into a false sense of familiarity of orange. It is overly sweet with just a hint of sourness, carbonated like any such soft drink would. Then only moments later into your imbibe, a secondary blast of citrus rocks your mouth, far more potent piece of produce with an earthy nuance that pierces your unprepared palate: it is the mandarin. Props to Carabao for actually showcasing the subtly between the two, at least in the realm of power potables. There is not one second here where the "flavoring" resembled anything found in the real world, but we get two very distinct tastes, and that is much appreciated. All this happens within the first handful of gulps, so by the time only a drip or two remains inside the aluminum walls, you have familiarized yourself with its tricks, so you reflect at a surprising but otherwise standard experience.

The interwebs inform me that each can contains 105 milligrams of caffeine, an amount OK considering its sub-sixteen ounce size and responsible for the few hours long buzz. Other ingredients include B vitamins, taurine and inositol. All in all, Carabao Mandarin Orange sipped with moderate finesse, and considering I bought a can on-sale for only a buck, I am not disappointed.

Rip It Tribute Sugar Free Energy Drink Review

Three years since reviewing the original Rip It Tribute, the brand is back without any of the sugar. The can remains largely identical but the new white backdrop has the design looking clumsy and exceedingly difficult to read. The flavor, Active Mandarin Live Wild Lime, is another pain point, making little sense- was "Mandarin & Lime" just too simple?

The flavor has little functionality flavor, drinking more like a soda than most other energy drinks. It focuses on the sugariness of the fruits more so than any characteristic, including acidity, which is a shame. I am all for some candied renditions of classic produce, it ultimately is not done well. Nether citrus has any depth, a diet depiction that sips without much skill or motivation. But the biggest knock here is the sweetness. Ace-k and sucralose is the sham sugar system of choice, any of the potable's potential verism sundering to this lethargic saccharinity. A peppy effervescence helps distract from the underwhelming sugars, but only gets the experience so far.

There is a medium-strength kick here, lasting two and a half hours, give or take a minute or two. Ingredients include: taurine, guarana, inositol, B vitamins, vitamin C, and 160 milligrams of caffeine. In the end, Rip It Tribute Sugar Free is an inexpensive energy drink that offers very little past your usual budget beverages.

Rip It Tribute Active Mandarin Live Wild Lime Energy Drink Review

For three years, the latest releases from Rip It have been just out of my caffeinated grasp; any local dollar store only carries the original few varieties. But a long away gas station has brought me one of their militant flavors, Tribute. Its design is a refreshing break from the usual look of the brand, with an interesting camouflage pattern and black chevrons.

The aroma is very Mtn Dew-esque; its flavor is less inspired, with a more potent mandarin taste and tarter tartness. The lime is unfortunately not much of a player, but instead acts as depth to the dominant orange citrus, along with a touch of pineapple and mango- giving the potable a more tropical feel than its can suggests. However the shining light here is the beverage's sourness and its sweetness, from high fructose corn syrup and sucralose; its a tangy, almost Sweet-Tart brand candy experience. Sips become cloying as the can nears complete completion, a lamentable blemish on a drink otherwise too fun for one.

Each can contains: B vitamins, vitamin C, taurine, inositol, and guarana. The kick is a good one, no if, ands, or buts, lasting a cool three hours with a potent kickoff and old school crash. In the end, Rip It Tribute is a revivifying return to form for the long-running brand.

AMP Boosted Mandarin Orange Energy Drink Review

Dear the newest Venom drinks; THIS is what your cans should look like! Well, maybe not "look" like; its all-black can with white and orange text is ripped straight from the "energy drink cans 101" community college class, a chunk of text surprisingly difficult to read even with its large font. It is resealable, which gives this variety the coveted "cool can" label.

Ignore the "mandarin" blazing the front of the can, here we have arguably the most orange soda-like energy drink; it is elementary, sugary, and only slightly tart. That is a good thing, for this sixteen ounce experience is a fun one, elementary as in it is basic, and how youthful every sip is. But in the words of a certain Friend's character, could this be any more sweet? A petite twenty five grams is all that this cool can contains, of the HFCS creed, with its buddies sucralose and ace-k as backup; things rest on the cusp of being cloying, but also on what an orange soda should be. The fruit savor is hardly more complex than your Sunkist or Fanta, however, with its acidity slightly earthy, a reduced roughness that gives any intricacy to be found some extremely thin breathing room. Overall, this AMP is a pretty good one, 100% generic and about as safe as any energy drink could taste, but I guess I am a pushover for this kind of flavor.

Each can contains: 100 calories, let us face it, empty calories, taurine, ginseng, guarana, B vitamins, vitamin C, and 160 milligrams of caffeine. The buzz is less inspired than its flavor; oh do not get me wrong, both of them are wholly prosaic, but a two-hour kick is never as enjoyable as orange soda. To end, AMP Boosted Mandarin Orange does not give much of a boost, nor does it taste a whole lot like mandarin. It is part of the AMP line though, and it does taste like orange. It is a mild success.

Rip It Tribute Energy Shot Review

Although available in your standard sixteen ounce can, the Tribute variety comes regardless in a camouflage canister, but only as a shot does the well-reading text thicken and look messy. At least the camo is the usual Army grade green clutter, rather than resemble your common energy shot shelf (... it is a bad joke, trust me that it makes sense).

I am never sure to chill or shake shots; I surmise so, considering they are the lollipop-guild of non-carbonated energy drinks. Flavor-wise, the aforementioned full sized variety is probably a whole heck of a lot better. The mandarin is preset but is missing full or robust mouth presence, unwisely undersweetened with a tauntingly torpid sourness that taunts at every sip. It does at least actually taste like mandarin, different enough from ordinary orange or typical tangerine tastes. Then there is some lime, not nearly as 'live' or 'wild' as promised, instead more dead and tame. It is a bit more tart than the former but who's taste is tons weaker, and drinks less like its own flavor and more like the nuanced acidity of the mandarin. Only worse than it sounds.

Supplement facts looks something like: taurine, glutamine, glucuronolactone, a slew of B vitamins, and 135 milligrams of caffeine. There is a decent little kick here, lasting two hours with jitters noticeable. In the end, it is not that Tribute is terrible, but for the same price as its whole sixteen ounce family, you might as well enjoy your purchase.
