Viter Energy Peppermint Caffeine Mints Review

Energy mints are something of a lost art- over a decade ago, The Caffeine King was reviewing almost yearly, sometimes more so, not much today. That is until Viter Energy arrived on my writing desk, its metal flip-top case small enough to fit easily in your pocket but clearly not big enough to house all the text the company felt was necessary.

Each mint sports forty milligrams of caffeine, but somehow these petite disks mask much of the anticipated bitterness with a peppermint flavor that would make a tube of toothpaste jealous. That is not exactly praise, but as my fingers struck my keyboard and the words began pouring out from my fingertips, the small candy puck was nearly dissolved into a wintery sensation of chilly herb like chewing on a menthol cigarette. The mouthfeel is grainy and gritty, and dare you bite into it, a most unsettlingly chalky texture arrives, but their small size makes it unlikely the average person will really notice- I had to stop my roll for sake of criticism. Yet by the time I had completed my time with that inaugural piece, my mouth was exhausted by the senseless relentlessness, cold beyond recognition.

Because we have just forty milligrams of caffeine per serving, along with some B vitamins, the buzz is unspectacular. I am sure if I popped a few more tablets, the half-hour long buzz would be a different story, but is that not true of any caffeinated product? Overall, Viter Energy Peppermint is an energy mint, nothing more and nothing less.

Vojo Citrus Energy Mints Review

I've gotta say, Vojo Citrus Energy Mints come in a pretty attractive container, looking like a sort of premium pack of Tic Tacs. The copious blackness gives things a sexy sleekness, and the package as a whole is consistently slick. I must mention, though, that the opening to the candies is a bit too small, but the company should walk with pride knowing that it's my only complaint thus far.

Being so small and caffeinated, they obviously must be sweetened generously to counter its bitterness, but since only sugar alcohols and those synthetic are used, their aftertaste is quite biting, comparable almost to that of the stimulant it masks. The citrus taste is blandly of only orange, a lonely fruit that is solely accompanied by the slightest sourness, one that's quickly lost within the walls of the pungent substitution. Each individual mint melts rather smoothly, pretty soon after its initial contact with the tongue, however if you chose to chew any of the forty or so pieces you're left with a mess of soft chalky bits that are entirely displeasing, much like the experience itself.

Like my mommy tells me, I am a good boy, and being a good boy of course I researched the caffeine content, as the box cruelly makes no specific mention of it. My findings varied from two to ten milligrams per mint, but my personal time with them prove that either amount isn't quite sufficient. Although it does truly depend on how many you eat, with such a poor taste, it's truly difficult to suffer through enough to get a decent buzz.

Ed Hardy King Dog Energy Mints Review

I'm ever continually impressed with the packaging of the Ed Hardy products, and King Dog Energy Mints is my personal favourite. There's a clean simplicity to how things look, and the matte finish gives the tin an unexpected quality feel.

The physical dimension of the candy is much smaller than most previous energy mints have been, with these actually resembling something more along the lines of Altoids. The pure white tablets crumble quickly, even initially, and after a few moments on the tongue they do not require much vexing to give way. The actual flavour is nothing special, with it tasting strongly of the usual peppermint that's so familiar now that it's become almost boring, though these dwarf pieces keep from exhausting the eater because of their infinitesimal stature. And with five mints equaling one of the competition, at least in the view of caffeine, I found myself enjoying the smaller investments more so than any larger one has in the past. But the experience is far from perfect, not just in the sense of negatives, however. One can forgive the inappropriate plastic taste that accompanies the first few you eat, but the real issue is how little peppermint excites me. Sure, it's a popular flavour, an obvious choice for any company to utilize, but is it wrong to wish for a more creative taste?

Five mints contain 100 milligrams of caffeine, and undisclosed amounts of guarana and ginseng. I had ten pieces, easy, and the kick was something of a potent one, lasting a solid four hours. All in all, though Ed Hardy King Dog Energy Mints is marginally the best product yet by the company, it is by far the most consistent. Both, however, are rather faint praise.

revive energy mint Review

I originally reviewed revive energy mints about a year ago, and the company has since re-envisioned the entire product, and the first thing you notice is its packaging. The entire health food look has been reduced and instead the design looks cleaner and more modern. There's much less of an emphasis on the fruits, and the blue has been darkened. The text is a bit out of hand, but most is needed, and the addition of a flavour indication is appreciated. Overall, I do like the design far more than I did the original, but it doesn't have much personality. It doesn't look cold or anything, but it feels almost generic.

The taste of revive has been slightly refined since I last had it. Initially, the flavour progresses slowly but steadily, and the mint is most akin to peppermint than any other. It isn't overwhelming and is actually rather refreshing. Understated is a bit of a spearmint essence, and it complements the peppermint positively. The mint itself has a rough, grainy texture, and the grains slowly break off and swim around your mouth. It's unpleasant and occurs mostly when the mint is almost completely dissolved. There's no bitterness like the original, but there is still a hint of artificial sweetness, albeit less noticeable. When justifiably compared to the original(and I mean via taste test), the newer revive has a more delicate mint taste, more of a gritty body, and weaker amounts of synthetic sweetness and aftertaste. I said in my original review for revive that it tasted just like what it's supposed to [mints], but in all honestly, the new revive tastes much more like your traditional mint. Granted the graininess is an unwanted addition, but overall it's a better tasting product.

Each mint contains: caffeine, vitamin C, ginseng, various amounts of antioxidants, and guarana. But new to the product is micro encapsulated caffeine, which allegedly means the caffeine is coated, therefor gradually released, resulting in a longer sustained kick. It all makes sense, and actually kinda works. While the buzz I received was less strong than the original, it lasted longer, around four hours. Overall, the new revive energy mint is an all together improvement over its predecessor, which in itself was a good product.

The other day I received an email from Justin Biel who works for the Revive Energy Mint company wondering if I wanted some free samples to review. Since I can never pass up free caffeinated products, I said yes and the next thing I knew I had twenty something energy mints in the mail. After the success of Foosh Energy Mints I'm actually excited to review Revive Mints, but whether or not they will be any good is a question that will soon be answered.

FIRST IMPRESSION: Where as a lot of energy product's have a mean or aggressive look, Revive Energy Mints went for a more health-food store look. The packaging is colourful thanks to all the fruits on the box. The box area is rather big, where as the text size is small so even though some of the text isn't necessary, it never clutters up the box. At first, I though that the flavour was going to be some sort of mixed fruit, but apparently it just contains fruit extracts(or something along those lines) and really is a generic mint flavour. Overall, the box seems like it would look great next to a protein bar at Whole Foods Market, but not anywhere else.

TASTE: I opened the box, took out a mint, popped the mint out of the blister pack and into my mouth. The flavour is pretty standard when it comes to mints. If I had to describe the taste I would say that it consists mostly of peppermint that cools your whole mouth down. There is a mild bitter taste, but thankfully it is quickly overthrown by the peppermint. The consistency is smooth, and stays smooth throughout the whole life of the mint. Overall, Revive Mints taste just like what they are supposed to taste like, mints.

KICK: Since I'm used to around 150-200mg of caffeine, I consumed two mints. Each mint contains: eighty five mg of Caffeine, Guarana, Green Tea, Ginseng, Acai, Mangosteen and Goji. This blend of ingredients gave me a pretty good buzz. For around three and a half hours I felt mentally uplifted and had a good amount of energy. Once the three+ hours was up these feelings gradually declined. Overall while the buzz was good, it wasn't as good as Foosh.

FINAL WARD: While I am disappointed that the flavour wasn't mixed fruit, I can't say that I'm disappointed with Revive Mints. Actually, for the most part I'm impressed. While nothing was great, in each category it passed with good remarks. If I could improve one thing it would have to be the taste. While it tasted like what you would expect from a mint, it just seems like a wasted opportunity to create an original and unique flavour. That aside, at the retail price of $.99 for two mints, Revive Mints are worth every penny...3.8/5

Foosh Energy Mints

One of the newest ways to get caffeinated are through mints. Several companies, such as VoJo, Revive, Warp, and Foosh have found minimal to great success in the market. I never was a big fan of non-drink energy products, as I love drinks, but when Megan of Vroom Foods, Inc. emailed me, wondering if I'd like some free samples of there product Foosh Energy Mints, I just couldn't say no. Now, I've reviewed Ice Breakers Energy Mints before, but no other energy mints, so this will be an interesting experience...

FIRST IMPRESSION: I like the... box of Foosh Energy Mints. Its got minimal text, and a cool wavy background that reminds me of peppermint. Also like there slogan, "SERIOUSLY CAFFEINATED," it shows its potency. One thing that's a crime if its overlooked is that each tablet contains 100mg of caffeine! That's the equivalent of a cup of coffee or an eight oz. rip it. Overall, I'm really excited to try Foosh Energy Mints, as its not every day that I can get 100mg of caffeine in such a small package...4/5

TASTE: As I'm so used of getting around 200mg of caffeine in one sitting, I decided to take two mints at a time. The taste is best described as a strong dinner mint-like peppermint flavour. Its rather overbearing if two are taking at once, so I recommend one at a time. The texture is very similar to most of the mints out there, though not as chalky, which is good or bad depending on who you are. There is, sadly, a weird after-taste that I believe to be caused by the bitterness of caffeine. While the after-taste doesn't completely ruin the experience, it does, however, knock a few points off the final score...3.4/5

KICK: Every mint contains: Sorbitol, Caffeine, Natural Peppermint Extract, Taurine, Ginseng, Niacinamide, Salt, and Sucrolose. This blend of ingredients gave me a above average buzz. It may of been because of its concentration of ingredients. I felt jittery and rather awake for around four or so hours, then I just felt like sleeping. Remember, I took TWO mints, not one. Taking one mint might provide a weaker kick...4/5

FINAL WARD: Overall, I feel that Foosh Energy Mints is one of the better non-drink energy products on the market today. Its packaged in an attractive... box, has a true mint flavour, and provides a worth while buzz. The only thing holding this product back is the after-taste, which like I said, doesn't destroy the taste, but isn't too appetizing. After my positive experience with Foosh Energy Mints, I'm also considering getting there other energy product, energy chews, though, that's I'm able to find some money, or get Vroom to use my photo on there site...3.9/5

Ice Breakers energy

When I went shopping today, I was in the need of some caffeine. I wasn't in the mood to lug around a sixteen oz. can of ...lost or NOS, so I looked hard for an alternative. What I found was Ice Breakers energy. Ice Breakers energy are mints that contain ten milligrams of caffeine each. Now, I'm aware that this isn't the highest concentration of caffeine available, but it will do. I don't personally like the tin design. I think they were going more of a natural, organic look, but it simply isn't working.

TASTE: I opened the tin and popped three mints in my mouth. The taste is very strong peppermint, similar to after-coffee mints. There was no bitter aftertaste, which was good. Overall, while they might be the best tasting, they atleast taste like what a mint should taste like.

KICK: Three mints contains about thirty mg of caffeine, so to get any sort of buzz it is required to take around eight mints or so. Eight mints gave me a pretty decent three hour buzz. The buzz was sustained and I received no crash.

FINAL WORD: For the first energy mint I've come across, Ice Breakers energy isn't bad. But it's not great either. Overall, Ice Breakers energy are not worth the $2 dollar price tag, but if they ever go down to about $1, then you might want to consider a purchase...3/5
