Raze's website tells me it's "the #1 rated energy drink," which cannot be true, I mean, I was not consulted. How could it be accurate!? Anyway, the can is busy to the point of distraction; its background and color scheme are OK in theory but break under the weight of unnecessary text.
Sucralose and ace-k are in charge of the sweetness and are on some of their best recent behavior; what they lack in physical presence on the palate they make up for it with an absolute absence of artificiality. As for the flavor itself, we have lime and melon for a taste not wholly unlike Mtn Dew Baja Blast. And honestly, it is no better or worse than that potent potable, save for the slight sense of surprise my palate had; I mean, were you expecting such a clone? But I digress, for what Raze is unable to accomplish is a good acidity and sense of momentum. Sips just land on the tongue and sit stillborn until you force it down the hatch, a passive experience lacking, ahem, energy.
For all its misgivings, the buzz here is pretty great, thanks to 300 milligrams of caffeine; expect three hours full of some jitters. Other ingredients include electrolytes, BCAA's. taurine, and things like that. Overall, Raze Baja Lime is not too shabby.
