Beaver Buzz Green Tea Energy Drink Review

A pissed off beaver is the last thing I'd expect to have a light green background, but that's the case with Beaver Buzz Green Tea. Beaver Buzz Green Tea is the last Beaver Buzz I have, and is easily the one I'm the least excited for. Not only am I not a fan of unflavoured teas, but it also has the least amount of caffeine in the line, and has the worst can. While it isn't overly cluttered or too busy, it just lacks interest. The only thing that holds your attention is the still so angry beaver, though he doesn't exactly look intimidating against the green.

Throughout the entire experience, the actual flavour is quite light, and it begins slightly bitter with a mild green tea taste. The bitterness and the green tea stay only a brief period, then allowing a syrupy sweetness to smoothly ride out the rest of the experience. During the ride, there's reminiscence of the bitter green tea in the back of your mouth, but thankfully their strength wasn't strong. The flavour is very basic, with no notes, hints, tartness, or sourness to distract the drinker from the plain tea taste. Like I said before, I'm not a fan of unflavoured teas, so even though an avid tea fan may love the taste of Beaver Buzz Green Tea, I have little love for it.

Each can contains: caffeine(102mg), guarana, taurine, ginseng, green tea and a couple B vitamins. This cocktail is weaker than previous Beaver Buzz's, so it should be no surprise that the power behind Green Tea is weaker as well. I only had a measurable amount of energy for one and a half hours, during which I had no jitters. Overall, Beaver Buzz Green Tea marks the end of the Beaver Buzz line, and with its bleak can, niche taste, and poor kick, it's a sad end at that.

Pink Energy Drink Review

One of the last varieties left that Beaver Buzz sent to me is Pink Energy, and though, to my knowledge, it's not part of the line, it is made by the same company. Like the name suggests, Pink Energy's can is pink, and to further stereotype women, there's a lip stick kiss mark towards the bottom of it. Is that really necessary? The name and colour scheme are both obviously intended to attract females, which in my book is okay, but it goes a bit overboard with the lips. But aside from that, the design is clean and the text is to the point, so aside from the mild sexism, the can actually looks good.

Pink pours out a slightly lighter shade of pink than that of the can, which I guess makes sense because if it was too dark, it would look unnatural. The flavour begins tame, but as it moves across your taste buds, a rather realistic grapefruit taste appears with a mild note of sweetness that matches the sweetness found in a real grapefruit. This ends up being the major focus of the experience, which is a good thing as grapefruit is rarely associated with energy drinks. There's a small amount of a tart lemon that develops near the end of the experience, but there's a slight sugar free aftertaste that overshadows it. The overall flavour to Pink is actually quite good and refreshing, but it's not very complex, which in itself isn't a bad thing, it doesn't help prevent it from eventually becoming boring.

Pink Energy not only contains a healthy amount of sugar(none), but also a healthy amount of caffeine(120mg), Taurine, ginseng, guarana, and A, C, and B vitamins. This ingredient cocktail provided me with a decent buzz. It lasted a bit over two and a half hours, and once that was over I didn't crash. All in all, while I applaud Pink for its thirst-quenching grapefruit taste, there are just too many problems in the overall product that prevent it from standing out amongst the other sugar free energy drinks.

Beaver Buzz Core

Beaver Buzz Core easily has the best can out of the line so far. The metallic orange may not sound too appealing, but it sure looks it. It fits the anger vibe the beaver gives off, and its bright quality makes it jump out among a lot of the other energy drinks available. While the actual design is essentially the same as previous cans, Core's can truly works the design to its full potential.

Core is Beaver Buzz's attempt at breathing new life into the classic Red Bull taste, but they don't quite succeed. It begins sweet and bubbly with apple as its base. The apple is strong, initially, but soon a shot of lightly syrupy vanilla appears and covers most of the apple. The vanilla continues to dominate the flavour, only leaving soon after the experience ends. There's an undertone of grape and bubble gum blended together, and the braid is slightly tart and not too sweet. There's a trace of cranberry that arises at random throughout the flavour, but other than that, there's nothing real unique thing about Core. It's rather lifeless. Even when it finishes there's no bite or anything exciting.

While Core is a shame for line, flavour-wise, the kick was on par with the others. The energy cocktail remains the same;
150mg of caffeine, Taurine, guarana, ginseng, and a variety of B vitamins. For two+ hours I had a good amount of energy, but nothing really spectacular. But at least it didn't end in a crash. Beaver Buzz's slogan is "Dam Good," but in Core's case, a more appropriate slogan is "Dam Disappointing."

Beaver Buzz Citrus

The Beaver Buzz line has been quite good in the past with its flavours, and since Citrus is my favorite beverage flavour, I've got rather high expectations for the next variety I'm reviewing, Citrus. Beaver Buzz Citrus's can is consistent to the others in the line, but personally, I feel it's the worst so far. While I like the crimson red background, it blends in with the beaver, making it hard to notice, therefore losing some of its appeal. Personally, I think yellow or green is more in line with citrus than red, so I really don't know why they chose the colour they did.

I was surprised to find that most of Citrus's flavour is pineapple. It's not bitter or sharp like it can be, but instead more mellow and laid-back. The sweetness is stronger more towards the end of the pineapple, but it's never overwhelming and it perfectly contrasts the fruit. A pleasant passion-fruit then emerges, and along with a mild orange note, rides out the experience, with reminiscences of the pineapple underlying the braid. The whole thing ends with a sweet and tart bite, with a hint of sourness. Beaver Citrus is a bit too thick, but it doesn't distract the drinker. Overall, while I would of preferred a bit less pineapple, the flavour is worthy to the others in the line, though not as good.

The power behind Beaver Buzz Citrus met my expectation of a twelve oz. drink. I felt awake and energized for about two to three hours. There wasn't any jitters to speak of, and it didn't end in a crash. Citrus's energy cocktail includes caffeine, Taurine, ginseng, guarana, and several B vitamins. Though I usually have a preference towards citrus energy drinks, in the Beaver Buzz line, I'd recommend either Berry or Green Melon over Citrus. While Citrus is an enjoyable drink, the others are just better overall products.

Beaver Buzz Berry

While I didn't see it as a major accomplishment, Beaver Buzz Green Melon was an above average energy drink, and though I have a lot of other drinks I should be reviewing now, I'm just so eager to try the entire line, I'm reviewing another Beaver Buzz today. Beaver Buzz Berry is the flavour I chose today, but only because it was the first variety I grabbed in my mini-fridge. Though Berry and the rest of the line are twelve oz., unlike Melon, I still have high expectations in terms of flavour and appearance. But, will it be a respectful brother to Green Melon, or the red head stepchild?

FIRST IMPRESSION: Other then a simple colour and minor text change, the can is essentially a twelve oz. version of Green Melon's can. But I'm not saying that's a bad thing, however, as I liked Melon's can, and I actually like Berry's more. I prefer the blue over the green, and I feel the slim size fits the design better. One thing that I don't like is the little leaf above the slogan. It's unfitting, and tries too hard to tell the consumer the product's Canadian. Berry is the billed flavour, which is a rather broad flavour indication if you ask me. Though I've had my fair share of quality berry energy drinks, I've also had my (un)fair share of lackluster berry drinks.

TASTE: I opened the can and took a sip. The flavour begins a juice-like cranberry, with a natural level of sweetness, and a good amount of tartness. Then some pomegranate emerges, with a deep raspberry trailing behind. The pomegranate isn't terribly strong, allowing the raspberry to become the focus with a very realistic texture. The former blend does fade with time, allowing some notes of grape to show up and increase the complexity. The finish is tart, and consists of hints of grape and raspberry. The overall carbonation is medium, and the level of sweetness feels right for each fruit. Overall, Beaver Buzz Berry's taste reminds me of amp Elevate, only a lot better. It's very polished, and really kept me wanting to take another sip.

KICK: I generally expect a two to three hour buzz from energy drinks that are smaller than sixteen oz., and that's exactly what I got from Beaver Buzz Berry. I received a decent amount of energy, but it took a good forty five minutes after I (quickly) drank the entire can. Thankfully, the kick didn't end in a crash. This unsurprising and unimpressive kick was the result of: 1500mg of Taurine, 165mg of caffeine, fourteen.eight IU of Vit. E, ninety milligrams of Vit. C, nine milligrams of Vit. B6, two.five milligrams of Vit. B2, twenty seven micrograms of Vit. B12, 3750 IU of Vit. A, and 150mg of guarana and ginseng.

FINAL WORD: All in all, I feel that Beaver Buzz Berry is a worthy followup to Green Melon, and a pretty good energy drink on it's own. While the kick couldn't compete with some, more potent drinks, the can was attractive, and the taste really shined. Honestly, the taste was something I'd expect to belong from the GURU line, which is a compliment if I ever heard one. But the big question is, should you buy Beaver Buzz Berry? Well, it depends on who you are. If you're like me, and prefer taste over power, than I recommend tracking a can down, but if you'd rather be bouncing off the walls for four+ hours, then I can't...3.7/5

Beaver Buzz Green Melon

Beaver Buzz is a line of energy drinks that I've been trying so hard to find. No stores near me carried it, so after unsuccessfully being able to locate a can on my own, I finally broke down and requested samples of Beaver Buzz from it's parent company. Surprisingly, they agreed and today they arrived. I'm reviewing Beaver Buzz Green Melon first, namely because it's not a common flavour, and that it's the only sixteen oz. variety in the line.

FIRST IMPRESSION: Boy, does that beaver look angry! I don't know why he is, though, because if my head was on an energy drink can, I'd be quite happy. The can too Green Melon is rather clean, and even though there's a good amount of text, it doesn't clutter the can. The colour scheme is mostly bright green with several black strips. I feel the two colours match each other really well, and the green even fits the beaver, as forests are normally green. Though I've had a few energy drinks with melon in the flavour, I believe this is the first energy drink I've seen with melon as it's labeled flavour, so I have no idea what to expect in terms of taste.

TASTE: I opened the can and took a sip. The flavour begins a sweet, mildly sour melon, with the sweetness quickly rising, then it dissipates. The melon is very light, clean, and tastes like a real melon, though the high level of sweetness can make it seem more like a melon candy. Being moderate in strength, there's some notes of pear and lemon wondering through out. They're blended together seamlessly, with the pear starting the blend, and the lemon ending it. These flavours overpower the initial melon, but when they begin to fade, the melon becomes more noticeable. While the melon reemerges, it becomes less sweet and rather sour. The experience ends with a sudden sugary and bubbly bite. Green Melon is very smooth, and goes down too quick because of it. Overall, Beaver Buzz Green Melon's taste is similar to Bump's in that they're both hard to describe, and they're both too good to be described. While I'm not saying it's ground breaking, and I know some will disagree, the flavour is an extremely enjoyable break from the norm.

KICK: Each can contains: Taurine, ginseng, 200mg of caffeine, niacin, guarana, inositol, and 204% of your daily intake of Vit. B6, B2, and B12. Once I finished the drink, I noticed I felt slightly more mentally focused than before. It continued to rise for around three and a half hours, then I crashed. It wasn't too major, but the severity of the headache and grogginess I felt was high enough to qualify as a "crash."

FINAL WORD: For quite some time I've been looking for a variety in the Beaver Buzz line, and now to of finally had one, I'm generally impressed. While the kick only met standards, the taste and can both exceeded them. Since Green Melon is the only sixteen oz. flavour in the line(the others are twelve oz.), I'm a little worried on how their kicks will be. But, if they look and taste as good as Melon did, there shouldn't be a problem. I don't think Beaver Buzz Green Melon is a truly exceptional energy drink, but it's a cut above average, and in some cases, it's even a few cuts above average...3.8/5
