The blue color scheme works rather well with the Mtn Dew Rise design, complementing the otherwise dull bare aluminum background. The scarlet top bar feels out of place however, not because it does not match with the design but instead because it is about the only red to be found. Well, aside from the eye and nose of the lion that is.
Mtn Dew branding. Blue coloring. I should have known better. Yes my friends, this is the company's often prostituted "Voltage" flavor, which has exploited several times before, including their "Frost Bite," among a good several others. It is perhaps their most famous flavor, next to the classic citrus of course, but why oh why oh why do we need to experience the same thing again?! "Pomegranate" is a misdemeanor, this is flat-out blue raspberry, with the crimson deciduous fruit coming up only in the tickling tartness and a pinch in the sweetness. But every sip is pure blue raspberry, you know what I am talking about- it tastes fake ever step of the way, each ounce soaked in syntheticness in the way only soft drinks can manage. On the plus side, this is an easy drink, simple, one-dimension but you will finish the entire can within mere moments.
The can here is proud of the 180 milligrams of caffeine, and so am I. It makes for a pretty good buzz, lasting three hours or so. Other ingredients include five percent juice, zinc, antioxidants, and vitamins. To end, Mtn Dew Rise Pomegranate Blue Burst is not quite a bust, but it sure as hell ain't a bang.
