Despite a good start with Renew, the Vuka line has kinda disappointed me, but hopefully the last flavour I was sent, Awaken, will change that. Awaken comes in a can similar to past varieties, and the metallic orange colour, while common among energy juices, does its job by telling the consumer what to expect just by looking at it. Awaken is the only Vuka to contain juice, but you wouldn't really know it unless you noticed the small "energy juice" written towards the bottom. But I'm glad they choice not to overemphasis the drinks juice content like other energy juices have, and instead chose to keep the can clean.
Awaken tastes fairly diluted, with a cross between papaya, tangerine, and peach initially. All of these fruits are soft and tart, but have little sweetness. The dilution is most evident following the prior blend, but thankfully a mild white grape and orange braid emerges to displace the dilution. There's a reemerging papaya that subsequently trails the grape and orange, but when compared to either part of the braid, it's nothing more than a note. There's no sort of finish when the experience ends, however there is a faint tartness and organic sensation that gently rises to the roof of your mouth. The liquid is very smooth and easy to sip, and while the watered-down sections give a sense of awkwardness to the body, Vuka Awaken is a slightly above average energy juice, if only for the lack of carbonation.
Awaken is no more impressive than its brothers in the energy category. I received a near three hour buzz, with no jitters, and it didn't end in a crash. Each can contains: vitamin A, C, E, caffeine(160mg), ginseng, pantothenic acid, and several B vitamins. In the end, Vuka Awaken felt more focused than the past two varieties, and while it's not as good as Renew was, it is easily the second best in the line.
