Go Fast is an energy drink that pops up without notice at various stores, mostly discount ones, but also vitamin and health ones. For fifty cents, I figured it was time to reevaluate this product, having not expressed my thoughts on the potation since 2008. Its can remains largely the same, only this time larger, which gives the prolix text some space to breath, but not much. It is simply too busy for its own good- perhaps this is why it littered the shelves of the local surplus store?
An exercise in excess, Go Fast screeches past being "sweet" and into unadulterated saccharine territory. Fortunately for palates, sucrose and honey are used, providing a bit more depth to the painful emphasis on empty calories than some. Piercing the sugariness is a shot of bitterness, either from all the "supplements" its can gloats about, or due to sitting on salvage store shelves for so long. It is a breathtaking break from the monotony, or at least until the sweetness is trampled by the acridity and the experience dilutes into a metallic and mineral mess. The flavor itself lives in the backseat, a decent Red Bull clone inhumed by the sour and cloying nature of this bargain store beverage.
Each can contains: taurine, ribose, ginseng, guarana, inositol, milk thistle, B vitamins, and 162 milligrams of caffeine. It lists this ingredients clearly on the back of the can, a refreshing change from the cryptic mumbling of most mega brand drinks.
