Go Fast Energy Drink Review

Go Fast is an energy drink that pops up without notice at various stores, mostly discount ones, but also vitamin and health ones. For fifty cents, I figured it was time to reevaluate this product, having not expressed my thoughts on the potation since 2008. Its can remains largely the same, only this time larger, which gives the prolix text some space to breath, but not much. It is simply too busy for its own good- perhaps this is why it littered the shelves of the local surplus store?

An exercise in excess, Go Fast screeches past being "sweet" and into unadulterated saccharine territory. Fortunately for palates, sucrose and honey are used, providing a bit more depth to the painful emphasis on empty calories than some. Piercing the sugariness is a shot of bitterness, either from all the "supplements" its can gloats about, or due to sitting on salvage store shelves for so long. It is a breathtaking break from the monotony, or at least until the sweetness is trampled by the acridity and the experience dilutes into a metallic and mineral mess. The flavor itself lives in the backseat, a decent Red Bull clone inhumed by the sour and cloying nature of this bargain store beverage.

Each can contains: taurine, ribose, ginseng, guarana, inositol, milk thistle, B vitamins, and 162 milligrams of caffeine. It lists this ingredients clearly on the back of the can, a refreshing change from the cryptic mumbling of most mega brand drinks.

Go Fast Light Energy Drink Review

When I first reviewed Go Fast, I was less than impressed with its can, but I'm even less impressed with Go Fast Light's. The white and black colour scheme itself isn't bad, but the design it accompanies looks fairly generic and boring. For a drink named "Go Fast" you'd expect the design to convey an overall sense of energy better(the only thing that really tries is the exclamation mark following the logo). Also, all the useless text towards the bottom is cluttering, and if it has to appear on the can it should be the back or the side, and not the very front.

The flavour begins with an overwhelmingly gummy vanilla, succeeded by an earthy, organic taste that's artificially stapled to its end. The cloying gumminess only lasts the initial second you taste the drink, but each sip has this unpleasantness to it. The vanilla itself tastes natural but not in a good way, as the drinks low level of sweetness doesn't correspond well with it. The vanilla lasts the entire duration of the experience, and for the most part it's the only major taste; it never weakens nor does anything attempt at masking it. Nearing the end of flavour, there's a ginger spice note underlining that gets greater as you come closer to finishing the entire can. Along with the ginger there's a slight generic blueberry taste that feels banal and dull to the point where it adds nothing but tedium to the flavour. Overall, while drinking the entire can to Go Fast Light wasn't very difficult, it wasn't very enjoyable either.

Though Go Fast Light is a fairly potent energy drink, it wasn't as strong as its predecessor. I had jitterless energy immediately but lasting only for three hours, where I then slowly drifted back. Each can contains: taurine, caffeine, ginseng, guarana, inositol, ginkgo, ribose, and a variety of B vitamins. In the end, on its can it says that "Go Fast Light was formulated for those who wanted the most functional and best tasting energy drink," but it would of been more appropriate to say "Go Fast was formulated for those who wanted a middling overall energy drink."

Go Fast

I bought a four(4) pack of Go Fast at Market Basket. I have an acquaintance that recommended this to me a while ago. But I'm just getting around to reviewing it now. Now, lets see what the man with A.D.H.D and the I.Q. of a lemon has gotten me in to.

FIRST IMPRESSION: The can, how should I say... sucks. It's not all that eye popping. Though I am a fan of red on black/black on red, Go Fast found a way of ruining it. And then name Go Fast... wait, is it called Go Fast or Go Fast Sports? They shouldn't make the name confusing, as next to the can, it's the most important thing of energy drink marketing...2/5

TASTE: The back label claims that this is "the best tasting energy drink", but I didn't believe it. After all, Red Devil also made that claim. I wasn't expecting much when I popped the top off. But when I took the first sip, I was shocked to find the taste to be near identical to Ole''s. Its a little less strong, so it avoids being a Red Bull clone, and since its made with honey, a little zing is added of their own. Overall, a good drink. I personally think that Ole''s flavour was better, but since I haven't been able to find Ole' in the New England area, I guess this is as close as I'm gonna get...4.1/5

KICK: Well, with a mix of all natural ingredients in the can, I got a pretty great buzz. Each can contains: Australian Honey, Taurine, Ginseng, Ribose, Vitamin B-6, Vitamin B-12, Ginkgo Biloba, Guarana, Riboflavin, Niacin, Milk Thistle Herb, Caffeine, and Sucrose. Though it wasn't the most powerful buzz, it did last for a long time. For about four(4), I felt wide awake, not jittery. Overall, a sustained long lasting buzz that didn't crash...4/5

FINAL WERD: Overall, I feel that, despite the crappy can and name, that Go Fast was a good drink. A really good drink. You know, I'm really getting sick of all these energy drink that have great taste, good+ kick, but the can and/or name sucks. Drink like Rockstar Juiced, Who's Your Daddy, and Power Trip Mango. Oh well, they all can't be perfect...3.8/5
