Tango is the second flavour in the Rumba line I have, and judging by the can, the one I'm the least looking forward to. While the can isn't terrible or anything, it just doesn't fit the mold of energy drinks. It's too health store like, and it doesn't even use sophistication to attract health conscious drinkers. It just ends up looking rushed and unattractive. The name "tango" is based on the popular dance, which requires energy and focus. And though in that sense the name's appropriate for an energy product, it just wouldn't of been my first choice for a name.
Tango pours out a deep sea weed green colour, which honestly surprised me. Why in the world would Hansen choose such an unsightly colour? Either way, the flavour of the odd-coloured liquid is actually quite good. Tango begins a tart and smooth blend of guava and apple, with a mild orange note trailing behind. The apple and guava braid is initially well mixed, but as time goes, they begins to separate, allowing the guava to overshadow the apple. There's notes of acai that appear before the orange, but it's too light to add any real depth. The overall sweetness gradually rises from its initial strength, but it never tastes unnatural or is too sweet. The texture gets a bit grainy as the experience goes on, but it's not terribly distracting. Overall, Hansen did a good job when formulating Tango.
Each can contains: vitamin C, caffeine, taurine, several B vitamins, guarana, inositol, and ginseng. This blend of ingredients provided the typical Hansen power; a three+ hour buzz with no jitters, and a raised alertness and energy level. All in all, despite having a ho-hum can design, Tango's overall quality is not only higher than its counter part Samba, but also higher than either of the amp Juices.
