Venom Killer Taipan Energy Drink Review

All you need to do is quickly look at the can and to briefly read its name to realize Venom Killer Taipan is greatly influenced by snakes. And while the theme is less cliche than Pit Bulls or Cheetahs, it is still fairly trite for energy drinks to be inspired by any animal. But in any event, the core of Taipan's can is fierce and aggressive, but like Venom Death Adder before it, the colour doesn't mesh well with the snake design, and the whole can just ends up being a mixed bag. But when you think about it, the entire Venom line has been sort of a mixed bag, I'd actually go so far as to label it a disappointment, so if there was one reason that I spent $2.89 on Killer Taipan, it would have to be that it is the last in the line.

Not mango cream, mango citrus, mango peach, or mango guava, Venom Killer Taipan's flavour indication is just mango. And for the most part, just mango is a proper description. A fluent, mildly realistic textured mango is initially tasted, along with a pleasantly smooth sweetness and a lull sourness. The sweetness and the sourness blend together, and playfully complement each other perfectly. Up to this point, the liquid is easy to drink, as the carbonation is light and laid back. Then apparent is a relaxed peach aspect tacked to the mango, but they feel artificially stitched together, so while the mango may taste ripened and fresh, it isn't as natural as it thinks it is. The peach adds an unwelcome roughness to the experience that while incomplete, decays some of the earlier smoothness. There is a sticky film left behind nearing your last sip, but it's sort lived and far from noticeable. Overall, Venom Killer Taipan tasted good, but there are better tasting mango energy drinks, some of which not only taste better, but don't expand the waist line.

Taurine, caffeine(160mg), inositol, guarana, ginseng, and several B vitamins make up the bulk of Venom Taipan's ingredient cocktail, and the buzz provided should be nothing more than middling for most. I had a decent amount of energy, slight jitters, and this lasted for three hours+ until I crashed. It wasn't a hard crash, but it was unnecessary. Overall, Venom Killer Taipan is a good energy drink, but the competition for best mango energy drink is far too stiff for one that's nothing greater than "good" to be recommended.

Curious to know. What other mango flavored energy drinks are out there in the market?

I love this stuff. I'm a mango junkie, and this one has a very real, intense, and pleasantly tangy mango flavor. It's also got enough caffeine to keep me going, and it's a pretty smooth energy.

Where I buy it, it's only a buck; where are you paying nearly triple that??
