Like Red Zone before this, rip it Citrus X Energy Shot is based upon a preexisting flavour, only Citrus X isn't discontinued, unlike the drink the aforementioned is. Citrus X Shot comes in the usual two ounce bottle and sports a design typical of the line. But like the previous rip it shot, Citrus X's label isn't necessarily cluttered, only instead thickly arranged with a clear mind and intentions. I do, however, dislike the angled "sugar free" that tumors off the main logo, and I do feel that the bright orange colour and the subname do a more than sufficient job and implying the flavour, and so the minor text that reads it out is unneeded.
rip it Citrus X Energy Shot initially tastes decently of candied artificial tangerine, but quickly the potency is partially diluted and it's graced unfortunately of a slightly harsh chemical burn. There's then, thankfully, a rapid injection of a mock orange juice tang and a pleasant degree of tartness, and the just prior burn never encores after your first sip. The orange is adorned by depth providing suggestions of a fairly authentic tangerine that's entirely separate from the antecedent tangerine. Following the former is an astringent cascade of synthetic sweetener that's only strong when compared to the strength of the surrounding flavour, however in favour of the drinker's taste buds, it is veiled by an echo of the aboriginal orange. Overall, aside from the occasional acrid stinging, rip it Citrus X does a fair job at tasting like what one would hope an orange energy shot would.
As for energy, the past Red Zone was not an example at extreme potency, so a major kick was not expected nor received. Instead, I received a two hour buzz that caused only the rare jitter. Each bottle contains: caffeine(100mg), taurine, and several B vitamins. All in all, rip it Citrus X Energy Shot is mostly a harmless product that I can't see invoking much reason for many to regularly purchase.
