NOS ZERO Energy Drink Review

For what ever reason, the company decided to revamp their diet offerings, with a new look and ingredients. Bare aluminum with orange trim is exchanged for a deeper grey and black trim, a change unarguably for the better. The bold logo reads well and there is still enough orange for those fans of it. It may be a bit boring, but it is pleasantly clean despite being intentionally sparse.

A regular drinker of NOS Sugar Free due only to its large caffeine content and local deals, the company's ZERO replacement is weaker with a less irritating carbonation. Everything is placid and incredibly dull, even the should-be dynamic pineapple, mango, and passion-fruit fruit-salad sips without energy or reason. They are sweet but artificially and weakly so, only the slightest bit sour and insultingly unlike the produce. The beverage lost its tang and spunk with the useless reduction of only a few calories, a pointless and subnormal remake of a drink itself only slightly less inadequate.

There are B vitamins, taurine, guarana, and a caffeine content that clocks in at 260- I mean 160 milligrams. That is right, they reduced the once-lauded amount by 100 mg! The kick suffers from it, lasting shy of three hours when it should be lasting four plus. To end, if I still used my old number scale to grade drinks, then it would be no mystery what NOS ZERO would receive.

I could not agree with you more! What were they thinking?! I was bummed when I stopped at the gas station this morning and saw they only had NOS Zero. I talked to the store owner and he said they are no longer selling NOS Sugar Free to vendors and this is the new drink. I would drink 2 of these every single day. Now it looks like I'll be drinking AMP Sugar Free every day. They totally missed the mark on this one. It's BLAND as you said and there's absolutely no tang. I think all they have done here is get rid of their regular customer base. I heard Monsters new Zero Calorie drink is pretty good. I'll give that a try.

I'm so disappointed I could cry! SF NOS was THE ONE... There was no other. Guess my money will have to go to a different company now. Bad move NOS. In this day in time when people are trying to be health conscious but still enjoy a good drink, this was a step in the WRONG direction. (SMH)

Wow, this new stuff sucks. I will openly admit I have been addicted to the SF NOS for several years, as it had a noticeably stronger kick for me than ANY other energy drink. It was like ADDERALL IN A CAN. Now it just tastes like I'm drinking sour milk thistle. Guess I'm switching back to Rockstar. WTF NOS. Between my buddy and I you just lost 500 cans a year easy.

I wish I had taken your advice and not wasted my money or tortured my taste buds! What a disappointment! NOS Sugar Free was my favorite. The Zero in NOS Zero apparently refers to the percentage of flavor in the drink. And what were they thinking by dropping the amount of caffeine? Hopefully sooner than later NOS realizes their mistake and after Zero crashes and burns they bring back NOS Sugar Free Classic. Apparently, Coca-Cola, the parent company, didn't learn from its stupid move with New Coke! Unless it was a marketing ploy to get people to want what they can't have and then bring back the original and call it Classic.

After trying many other sugar free energy drinks in search of a replacement for NOS Sugar Free (which will soon be unavailable once stores sell through their stock) I highly recommend Xyience Xenergy Extreme Frost Berry Blast and Xyience Xenergy Extreme Fruit Punch! They are both delicious, calorie free, have a good kick, and have the added benefit of no artificial colors or flavors. And no, I don't work for the company. They're just that good! Give them a try! You'll be glad you did!

I agree with everyone also. I use to buy cases of sugar free NOS from our grocery store. It was the best tasting and didn't have that gross after taste the new one has.
They should definitely go back to that.

I agree they ruined a great thing and should go back to the sugar free!

I only discovered NOS Sugar Free a few months ago. I had finally found an energy drink that tasted good/unique and packed a worthy caffeine punch and now they take away everything that made it good. I sent Nos/Coca-Cola a polite/civil 'nastygram' informing them that I am no longer a customer and got a generic automated response back. "We take inquiries seriously..." yeah right.

Couldn't agree more. Wrote a letter to Coke blasting them. Sugar Free was my drink of choice being a diabetic. The fool who made this choice should be fired.

I absolutely disagree. I love this stuff. It's my morning coffee. The transition from the old stuff to the new stuff was seamless.

They're dropping the caffeine in the sugared stuff from 260 to 160, too. I've noticed the 260 phasing out in grape and cherry, and it's getting harder to find.

I honestly enjoy the flavor of NOS Zero, but if you are like me and you want a sugar and aspartame-free drink, you don't have much to choose from. NOS Zero is my favorite that follows these restrictions.

The biggest disappointment for me is reducing the caffeine from 260 to 160 mg per can! Such a let down. It seems like they discontinued the plastic bottle with the orange twist off cap, which I think had the higher caffeine content, but it was larger than the 16 oz can.

It's a shame, NOS was a great value and tasted pretty good. Now that virtually all the drinks have reduced caffeine, I probably won't be drinking it as much.

The low caffeine cans started popping up here in the Spring. However, the good news is that I've still been able to find old 260 mg cans. As of late October 2013, I'm still able to occasionally find old stock, but most busy convenience stores, gas stations all have the new formulation. Most of the 260 mg cans left out there will be found at smaller retailers, hole in the wall places, non refrigerated displays at grocery stores etc.

I have one of the old cans left in the fridge, might be one of the last I find but I'll keep my eyes open for the old stock.

I've never had the sugar free version of NOS, just NOS Zero & now, Charged Citrus NOS Zero.

I like the flavor of both of the current NOS Zero products. I prefer no sugar, no/low calorie, no/low carb drinks and this one fits the bill better than others out there. I think they both have good taste without "over-buzzing" you. And they have less of that annoying taurine flavor than other companies' energy drinks.

My second choice to NOS Zero would be Sugar Free Amp, but I still find it to be too sweet for my taste.

To each his own, I guess!

Caffeine is for people without adrenaline. What the f*ck do you need so much caffeine for? Pretty much everything else out there is garbage, this is great and really hard to find around here.
