I am a pushover for tropical potations, but Mtn Dew just double dips into the same old flavor-base used in previous products like Game Fuel Charged Tropical Strike. (So... triple drips?) The primary difference this time is the reduction from ninety to twenty five calories, but the core profile remains identical, tasting of hollow pineapple, jaded mango and a squirt of nectarine. But these are just words in a paragraph in a review on an energy drink review site- any Mtn Dew junkie has experienced this experience plenty of times before. In a way this is a good thing- the white grape nectar providing four grams of sugar, along with the synthetic squad of aspartame, ace-k and sucralose, but sips do not suffer from this carbohydrate reduction. The texture has some weight to it, and there is hardly any artificial aftertaste to taste, lost in the potable's fluffy effervescence and slight tartness. My tongue wished for stronger acidity and a whole lot more personality, but the sixteen ounces it bathed in was by no means unpleasant.
The 180 milligrams of caffeine makes for a pretty decent kick. Lasting three hours, the energy found within the thin metal walls is more impressive than anything here. To end, Mtn Dew Rise Tropical Sunrise gets a passing grade for competency and nothing else.
