Those mad food scientists at Monster have done it again- their latest expansion is an oat milk coffee. The can is surprisingly attractive, maintaining the classic Java Monster look while introducing a pleasant pasture picture, complete with a sunrise, which is a real nice touch.
The flavor is where it loses me. Oh sure, it is tasty, sipping like a glass of chocolate oat milk, but there is a slight metallic staining to every imbibe. But that is not where things derail- this just does not taste like coffee! Despite being the number one ingredient, followed immediately by the dairy alternative, the roasted, slightly sweet flavors of the liquid grain is simply too potent for the bean brew to sustain any momentum. Four grams of fat, from the moo juice surrogate and sunflower oil, grant the potable a fabulous mouthfeel, a thick, velvety texture that avoids feeling too heavy or gumming up your palate. Sweetness is another achievement, having twenty five grams from both the cow creamery counterfeit and plain ol' sugar, giving gulps an increased weight but never cloying your tastebuds. Overall, this is a very fun drink that injures itself by saying it is a coffee without tasting like one.
Each can contains a nice 200 milligrams of caffeine, which is enough to get the job done. The buzz is three hours thusly, perhaps a moment or two more. Other ingredients include: B vitamins, taurine, inositol, l-carnitine, and vitamin C. In the end, Java Monster Farmer's Oats looks, tastes, and kicks great, but it just does not taste anything like coffee.
