Mtn Dew Green Label Soda Review

A surprisingly appealing can, this Mtn Dew is one of three in their "Label" line, at least according to my interwebs sleuthing. There is a lot going on in the design, busy white text and graphics that are easily noticeable off of the forest green backdrop, but it all works here, achieving a level of controlled chaos the main Mtn Dew drinks usually are overtaken by.

The flavor is one of the best the company has pushed out in years, the base fruits of Mtn Dew veiled by a composed sourness that puckers just enough to gently yank at the edge of your lips. Any claim of apple is a lie- you taste the fruity idiosyncrasy of kiwi just above the trademark lemon, lime and melon flavors. Sweetness is another highlight, thirty five grams cane sugar and however much the juice content adds, in addition to sucralose and ace-k. It is well balanced, slightly syrupy and gritty but never overwhelming: it is exactly what this flavor needs. Sixteen ounces might be a tall order for an experience of such relative simplicity, never evolving much between your first and final imbibe, but gosh, what a world if all the company's caffeinated cocktail varieties were as carefully crafted as this one here?

Each can contains eighty three milligrams of caffeine, but that is it. For a soda lover looking for a kick, it will do, but only Mtn Dew lovers will find much to appreciate in the ingredients list.

Irn Bru Soda Review

Irn Bru is an interesting beverage, albeit ugly and wrongheaded in its appearance. Gross orange permeates through the tall, clear plastic bottle, with even more nasty orange rounded out by some decent blue color. The stylized illustration of the athlete adds a level of misguided novelty to this imported potation.

Disgusting chemical creaminess punches out of the nearly seventeen ounce bottle, and out from inside these transparent walls comes a comparable taste. It is sweet, sickly so, with the taste of bubble gum on the forefront, vanilla relaxing in the back and a slight burn of ginger. Every gulp is super-smooth with carbonation nearly absent, a mouthfeel appropriate for only some of the several dissonant flavors. The spicy rhizome especially begs each imbibe for a harsher effervescence, slinking sadly into the background as it watches the common spice lush lovingly over the general stillness. But as gulps are gulped down and the bright golden elixir enters your tummy, vanilla becomes about all you can taste, bogging down the experience with its gooey, relentless saccharinity so that the entire enterprise ends up feeling like this came in a much larger transport than it actually did.

Each bottle contains: some caffeine, about 200 calories and fifty grams of sugar. Things are comparable to gulping down a Mountain Dew, save for some grams of sugar. Overall, Irn Bru is a bizarre, colloquial exercise in exotic badness.

Dirty Mountain Dew Zero Sugar Cream Soda Dew Review

I am, if anything, happy that Mountain Dew has decided to actually tell us the alleged flavor with their newest variety. I do not, however, think there is anything dirty about cream soda, which should be velvety, rich, and, ahem, creamy- what kind of soft drinks have they been having? The can is alright, surely busy enough to keep the most immature eyes distracted from the fact you cannot really tell what is going on. Is that a desert? Is that space? Who knows?

I love a good cream soda, but Dirty Mountain Dew proves that I do not love a cream soda mixed with caffeinated citrus. Actually, that is not entire fair: the spice chosen today is a cheap one, chemical and hollow, missing the weighty smoothness of one from a small-time soft drink manufacturer who still uses glass bottles. This is in heavy contrast to the fruit, which is your usual blend of lemon, lime, melon and grapefruit. That familiar blend goes the expected candied route, living in luxury at the decision to use synthetic sugars sucralose and ace-k. This fakeness only amplifies the cream's falsehood flavor, meaning you get twelve ounces of a cheap, carbonated sherbet covered in frost way in the back of a dingy discount store's end chill-chest. A splash or two of actual milk, even if it bumped up the calorie count a tad, could have rescued this from The Caffeine King's annual "Your Drink Sucks" list, but alas, I can only review the drink in front of me, not the one I improve in my head.

Sixty eight milligrams of caffeine, in all respects, is pretty decent for a soda sold in twelve packs. The only problem is, I have another eleven cans to suffer through.

Mtn Dew Baja Cabo Citrus Soda Review

Not a "blast" this time, Mtn Dew's latest Baja beverage is "Cabo Citrus," or as the label explains a "tropical citrus punch." The packaging does sport the fruit I suppose I should suspect with that sapor, but the unnaturally bright safety cone orange calls to mind the brand's previous Flamin' Hot variety, which is not something anything, anywhere, should remind anyone of.

There is a lot of sugar here, seventy four grams of the sweet stuff, which equates to almost 150% of your recommended daily intake. I am no doctor, and therefore unable to provide any medical guidance, but that seems a bit unnecessary and unhealthy. But I digress: the saccharinity all comes from high fructose corn syrup, no diet sweetener to help break up the caloric monotony, and within just a few gulps all you can taste are carbohydrates. Mouthfuls have a flimsy mouthfeel, slippery like flour on a wooden floor, and even as I allowed the candied caffeinated cocktail sit still on my tongue, my taste buds trying their damnedest to try and locate all the fruits plastered across the plastic bottle, my body began to reject this belt-busting disaster. Tangerine is the least muted, followed by deadened depictions of melon and lime, but the tropical trilogy takes a backseat to the potation's pure purpose: sugar. I would say I wish I liked this more, but I sure as hell am not taking the blame for this twenty ounce misfire.

We are given just ninety two milligrams of my namesake chemical to enjoy, my body buzzed more from all the empty calories I would wager. This is not an energy drink, obviously, but if it were, at least there would be a reason to consume this and all its destructive glory.

Mtn Dew Zero Sugar Summer Freeze Soda Review

After a brief hiatus after its official debut in 2023, the Mtn Dew brand's Summer Freeze is back, again for a limited time. It is coming to the award-winning Caffeine King in a bottle this time, so you really get to visually soak in all the unnatural-looking coloring. 'Merica! Or something.

The absence of an aluminum transport helps give this latest Mtn Dew a cleaner finish, climaxing without metallic interference. But that does not stop the beverage from being yet another misguided mutation of the company's popular Voltage version: blue raspberry is what you taste and you had better like it, because there are twenty ounces of candy-colored cocktail to consume. Buried beneath it is a touch of common citrus and a hint of melon, but these momentary pit stops are inconsequential interruptions, introducing no real nuance or breathing room- this is a showcase for blue raspberry. As for the cherry that the label hails, good luck finding the fruit here. The lackadaisical lemon and lime are perhaps the worst offender, as they fail to bring any acidity to the party, leaving the experience to rot a boring death with a chronic dearth of acidity. Instead we get aspartame, ace-k and sucralose, in that order, and they are sweet for the sole purpose of being sweet. And by the time only a few smalt sips remain inside the hollow plastic, your palate clogged up so badly that the trilogy of synthetic sugars is all your tired tongue can taste.

We do have 114 milligrams of caffeine, which is graciously more than, let us say last years equally dismal VooDew variety, but that alone an energy drink this does not make. And that is fine, it never claims to be one, but I dunno, perhaps my body is prejudice against confused caffeinated cocktails?

Jones Cola Soda + Caffeine Review

"Oh, hi there, Jones, long time no see."

"Huh, what was that- yeah, not since 2008 I know. I mean, thanks, you look good too."

Well, except for the fact that the label is shrink-wrapped on, and that the can clearly is frightened by the implications of calling itself an actual "energy drink." We have a sixteen ounce slab of metal here and 160 milligrams of sweet, sweet caffeine, but the closest this thing ever gets to being true to itself is "soda + caffeine." Hm, like, oh I dunno, an energy drink?

I have not had a good cola here in a long time, not since probably Jolt Cola's return back in 2019. And Jones here certainly smells the part, as if I had pressed the "dispense" button on my local favorite fast food restaurant's Coke fountain, my eyes hypnotized by the bubbly elixir as it pours into my extra large plastic cup. First sip exposes a classic taste, the caramel-colored cocktail crashing down onto your tongue with all the grace of any mass-produced soft drink. The flavor profile is standard issue, vanilla, cinnamon, cloves and lemon all mixing to create what everyone and their mom thinks of when they hear the word "cola." Carbonation is heavy and harsh, beating your palate into a numb pulp before the carbohydrates begin destroying your dental hygiene; forty seven grams of pure can sugar means this has a fantastic mouthfeel, one rich with a slight grainy texture and formidable heft. But the problem here is the use of a can used versus the company's historic preference to glass bottles, as everything has a slight metallic stain, pushing an otherwise familiar experience over the edge to one that is overly and overtly commercialized. It is tasty but unambitious.

Remember, this is not an energy drink, just a soda with 160 milligrams of caffeine. Totally different, do you hear me? The buzz is alright, lasting a bit over two hours before I began to wonder what else I had caffeinated in my fridge. Overall, Jones Cola Soda + Caffeine is classic not classy; it is what Coca-Cola Energy should have been.

Mtn Dew VooDew 2024 Soda Review

Who is this drink for? One would surmise it would be for folks like me, the kind who live, breath and die caffeine, but I prefer my potent potables to clock in somewhere a bit less than 270 calories and nearly a day and a half of your recommended intake of sugar. I know at least my waist will thank me.

Not unlike this year's diet variation, my tongue is crippled immediately upon  liquid impact; though this time it is due to the seventy three grams of sugar inside these thin plastic walls, all from high fructose corn syrup, drowning my poor palate in a saccharine salvo of bare unnecessities. I taste peach and mango, both so distant and distracted by the gut-busting carbohydrates that sips end up being just indistinctly fruity. Effervescence leaves almost as soon as it arrives, leaving the texture to fend for itself, a very, ahem, syrupy mouthfeel. As for acidity, ha, I wish we had some sourness to steer the experience back on track. I do enjoy a good mystery, giving me a bit of a challenge as I pen the review, and I do truly go in blind. But then I like to see what the interwebs thinks, which a quick search shows that even the nebulous blob of folks online have no idea. Is it fruit punch? Some nostalgic candy? No one has any idea, but my opinion still stands: this drink sucks.

A soda with ninety one grams of caffeine means that to someone, somewhere, this will replace that morning cup of coffee. Not me though, I prefer my buzz to be one that I does not need to be followed by a long jog.

Mtn Dew Zero Sugar VooDew 2024 Soda Review

It is time for candy corn, or at least it is according to PepsiCo, who's Mtn Dew has their annual "VooDew" out on store shelves. This here is 2024's diet edition, oh I am sorry, their "Zero Sugar" edition. Nomenclature be damned.

The can looks good as per usual, but what could be this year's flavor? Cheap compound chocolate? Plastic Halloween mask? Or what about raw carving pumpkin? Who knows, but my body is willing to bet it ain't candy corn.

Pouring out a crystal clear, the scent is indistinctly fruity, but the flavor is trash: it has the awkward astringency of artificial peach, complete with an equally unpleasant sham creaminess. It just does not work together, failing not only as a holiday treat but also as an experience all together, which should have been priority number one for the brand. Banana is also here, for some reason, contributing nothing except more bewilderment; it does not work as a nuance because nothing here works cohesively. Sucralose and ace-k are the sweetener system at play but they put up no fight to the acidity, which is about the only good thing I could think of- this is more sour than sugary soft drink. Mouthfuls, despite being served chilled, taste somehow slightly warm, as if it needs to be surrounded in dry ice to truly be frosty on the tongue, so I gulped and gulped and my palate winced as every nasty ounce coated it. This tastes worse than trick-or-treaters toilet papering your house.

The buzz is weak, but that is OK, since this is not an energy drink. It is a soda, so the sixty eight milligrams of my namesake chemical mean that you can chug a few cans to ease into the kick. Or, you know, you could do that with a better tasting Mtn Dew.

Mtn Dew VooDew 2023 Soda Review

I do not know about you, but I am tired of twenty ounce soft drinks with 270 calories! Those could, I dunno, go towards a complete balanced breakfast! But here Mtn Dew is, back with their annual "VooDew" variant, and if this year's diet version is any indication, this is going to be a pretty bad time. I will say that I like the label, going all in with the kitschy Halloween aesthetic, with greens and pinks and blacks. Is it busy? Oh hell yeah, but I do like looking at it.

The cloudy white elixir smells like Bomb Pops, and first sip results in something not too far from that scent. Lime, cherry and grape appear all mushed together, a Frankenstein of a fruit that has none of the complexity any of those three could have independently. Instead, Mtn Dew takes probably the only logical route with the soda, going hog-wild with sweetness. Oh gosh is this sweet, it is saccharine to the point of nausea, with seventy three grams of high fructose corn syrup. That is almost 150% intake of added sugar, for those health-conscious crazy people who think that using some artificial sugars, to help get that number down to something resembling reason, would somehow be worse for you. Yeah, because the human body was designed to digest all those carbs. (Note to readers: I am not a licensed medical professional, so please get your health advise elsewhere.) Anyway, This is not the worst VooDew that Mtn Dew has designed, but boy, am I tired of having to exercise off their drinks.

What else is there to say about a sweetened carbonated liquid? Well, I was less thirsty after consumption, I suppose that is something. Anyway, Mtn Dew VooDew 2023 is likely to have fans salivating with excitement for next year's version, but it has me rethinking my life choices.

Mtn Dew Zero Sugar VooDew 2023 Soda Review

It is beginning to look like Halloween, at least according to PepsiCo, as we have their yearly Mtn Dew "VooDew" variant. This one happens to be the sugar free version, but do not worry, caffeine fiends, the cavity-causing variety should be reviewed shortly. The can is everything you want from the brand today, with a large logo, busy visuals and the hollow promise that maybe, just maybe, it will taste like candy corn. Oh wait that is only me?

Your first sip is sweet, oh golly is it so, a synthetic sugar salvo that assaults your palate into total compliance. What the flavor actually is is a muddled mess of melon, robbed of complexity and possibly acidity in favor of strict saccharinity, so simple in execution that you wonder how many satchels of Splenda, Equal and Sunett are poured into this small twelve ounces. What, you have never seen a packet of Sunett? Well, neither have I. The more one sips the more notes of vanilla and peach overwhelm the taste buds, all soaked in the unnecessary pseudo sugariness. So far at about half of the can is depleted of its contents, and my tongue is so seized into the sham sweetener submission, and suddenly I get the urge to bite into something natural, like an apple fresh off of the tree, or hell, even a sprig of broccoli, something- anything to help undo what the cascade of counterfeit carbohydrates have done.

Being a soda, the sixty eight milligrams of caffeine we get to work with is nothing but a benefit, though it hardly justifies the dreadful flavor. Overall, Mtn Dew Zero Sugar VooDew 2023 is worse than getting an expired piece of candy in your bag on Halloween night.

Mtn Dew Flamin' Hot Soda Review

Someone needs to tell Mtn Dew to calm down- it feels like every week they release some crazy new product, but this takes the cake. A spicy soda? No thank you. But I believe in full-service reviews here at The Caffeine King, so "sorry" to my palate but "you are welcome" to readers. The packaging is wild in the best possible way, yet its bright red coloring feels at odds with its citrus sub-flavoring.

Whether or not I prepared for the worst or I was just plain wrong, but things are significantly less "hot" than I feared. Well actually hold on a sec, I am finishing my first mouthful here and- blech, yuck, this is nasty and if I could I would erase that first sentence. The rear of my throat burns with the heat unlike a pepper and more like a cinnamon candy or perhaps fireball whisky, it sticking to my palate, never yielding to any subsequent sip. Seventy three grams of sugar, all added and all from high fructose corn syrup, only intensifies the unpleasant sensation by thickening the texture to the point of carbonated sludge. As for the initial flavor, before the grody aftertaste, it is an unsophisticated lemon/lime hybrid that has minimal changes from base Mtn Dew. What else am I supposed to say? How about this: if I was not an honest critic, I would dump the remaining ounces down the sink, burn the bottle and never speak of this again.

With nearly a day and a half worth of the suggested intake of sugar, finishing an entire bottle is not only unsavory but also unhealthy. But hey, who here reads a Mtn Dew review expecting health advise? As for us caffeine kings, queens and all members of the royal family, there is ninety one milligrams, a solid amount for something lacking the word "energy" on the packaging. Overall and probably unsurprisingly, this drink sucks.

Mtn Dew Summer Freeze Zero Sugar Soda Review

What bothers me most about the way this Mtn Dew looks is how it reads "Zero Sugar Summer Freeze," where as my friend the interwebs has it organized "Summer Freeze Zero Sugar." Either I am wrong, or the company is, which is such a silly distraction from the goofy visuals. Sure it is busy, but that is the point, though somebody tell Pepsico that "summer Americana" is not a flavor.

It only took a sip or two for my brain to start working; I have tasted this before. A quick search on the premier database for energy drink reviews, The Caffeine King, floods my mind back with memories of a simpler time, namely 2011 and Diet Mtn Dew Voltage. Oh I am sure there are some subtle differences, I mean it is not like I have a bottle of sugar free Voltage kicking around for over a decade just for this moment, but it does not matter on the tongue. Blue raspberry, fake to the fullest order, explodes with its candied simplicity as you take your first mouthful, a slightly powdery puckering playing in the back of your throat. I wish I could report that there was some other flavor but I am afraid not- this is a one-note experience that at least gets it right that us dumb Americans like things simple, sweet, stupid and synthetic.

The best thing here is the sixty eight milligrams of caffeine in each can, which is a bit excessive for a non-energy drink, but hey, that is America baby! Overall, Mtn Dew Summer Freeze Zero Sugar drinkable and nostalgic but probably not for the right reasons.

Mtn Dew VooDew 2022 Zero Sugar Soda Review

It is almost as if Mtn Dew has listened to my yearly criticisms towards their VooDew releases and published a diet version. Now do I condone artificial sweeteners? About as much as I condone soft drinks honestly. The twelve ounce can is packed with wild fonts, colors and visuals, and is about as attractive a packaging as the brand has ever been. Interpret that as you will.

As bound by candy corn law, this tastes nothing like the polarizing Halloween staple, but in actuality, this barely tastes like anything special at all. The Mtn Dew base of citrus and melon hardly allows for anything else to break through the diet carbohydrates, sucralose and ace-k sweet to the palate like licking those multicolored satchels at the counter of your local coffee shop. No one imbibe resembles the brand's previous VooDews or even this year's, nuance lost in a saccharine sea of aggressive effervescence and plucky tartness. It is not a bad time on the tongue mind you, completely drinkable actually, but what is so mysterious about this I have no idea.

Sixty eight milligrams of caffeine is a good amount for a twelve ounce potable, kicking like any non-energy drink would. But this is not an energy drink, so why are we still talking? Anyway, Mtn Dew VooDew 2022 Zero Sugar will sell like hot cakes, so anything I have to say is just writing on the internet, destined to be lost like this years' top trick or treat costume.

Mtn Dew VooDew 2022 Soda Review

This is the year- yes, the year Mtn Dew's somehow annual "VooDew" brand takes on the most classic of Halloween flavors: candy corn. How do I know? I do not, but come on, there had to be public outcry! Anyway, the bottle is what you expect from the company, more orange this time around, so actually hold up- maybe it will be PSL-inspired?

Well darn, this ain't candy corn flavored! Instead it is hyper-saccharine apple, lemon and melon with a sourness that rivals most anything in your average trick-or-treat bag. Not even two sips in and your mouth is engulfed by syrup, weighed down to the point of distraction, distraction from the rather pleasant fruitiness and its sweet/tart depiction. And further gulps only add to its grip on your palate, and before you know it, you are just drinking mouthfuls of thick honey without the honey taste. But that first imbibe, wow, that was pleasant, but now here I am, half a bottle depleted and my belt undone, so obviously gaining weight from the 270 calories per bottle, the needless carbohydrates clearly not interested in allowing me to slip easily into my Halloween costume this year.

This is a soda, and your diet be damned, because this does not give soft drinks a good name. What else am I to say? That I like the feeling of consuming so many empty carbs and calories? There is no curiosity here. Overall, Mtn Dew VooDew 2022 is frightening only when you read the ingredients label.

Mtn Dew Zero Sugar Major Melon Soda Review

Grumble grumble, exhales all the palates of the world as Mtn Dew Major Melon debuted, only the company has a lot of confidence in this product- it is the first permanent potable in the line in something like a decade. After so many exhaustive limited releases, I have lost faith in the brand, considering so so so many of their potations fail to be anything but flavored corn syrup. Perhaps, just perhaps, the diet version of their newest brew will turn my frown upside down.

Unfortunately, the essence of Mtn Dew is lost in a cascade of syntheticness and candy. It is pure unpleasantry, twelve ounces of absolutely no good, rotten, bad time nastiness. The fruity flavor is dimensionless, that oh so familiar "melted Jolly Rancher" simulation that plagues so many potables using melons as their inspiration. We have a rather unique sweetener blend, with soft drink stalwart aspartame joining the common duo ace-k and sucralose, but they bring out the worst in each other, every sip is cloaked in a heavy mask of syntheticness, each of the three showcasing their own special brand of diet burn, cultivating in an aftertaste that lingers well after your final imbibe.

We have sixty eight milligrams of caffeine, but that is the only ingredient here worth noting. Overall, Mtn Dew Zero Sugar Major Melon is a major miscalculation, but considering its fervent fans, it probably will not matter much in terms of sales.

Mtn Dew Thrashed Apple Soda Review

Mtn Dew Thrashed Apple is exclusive to the Kroger family of grocery stores. Mine did not sell twenty ounce bottles, which meant I had to spend over seven bucks for a twelve pack of twelve ounce cans. Oh, well, maybe one day I will get paid for the words I type.

The can itself is wild, like any other recent Mtn Dew, but it sells its apple origins with its nearly all green appearance. I like it.

Despite having zero nectar, the flavor achieves a level of verisimilitude uncharacteristic of the company. It is ungodly sweet sure, featuring forty three grams of high fructose corn syrup, but there is a fresh taste to each sip, a burst of acid that feels like it came bursting out of the flesh of the emerald skinned fruit instead of by a person in a lab coat playing with beakers and other things I stereotypically associate with flavor scientists. It is one note and demonstrates an absolutely no depth, taking the famous granny smith variety profile and liquifying its essence, but it commits to that like a marriage. The front of the design reads "DEW charged with crisp apple," but do not let that fool you; my palate observed that the usual brand flavor was never present. This is apple through and through, for better or worse.

Remember kids, this is a soda, not an energy drink, so the fifty five milligrams of caffeine is not design to give you much of a boost- really the sugar rush is what my body felt most. In the end, Mtn Dew Thrashed Apple is what it claims to be: an apple soft drink.

Mtn Dew Gingerbread Snap'd Soda Review

It would not be the holiday season if Mtn Dew did not pump out a crazy themed drink. The flavor this year is gingerbread, which, despite having experienced over a thousand different potent potables here on The Caffeine King, is a first. The bottle is festive but goofy, with angry gingerbread men participating in what looks like a deadly snowball fight. Hey, for the kids.

Now despite being kooky at first glance, gingerbread makes sense as a soft drink, considering ginger ale exists in multiple varieties for over a century. And you can ignore the "bread" part of its nom de plume, this is as basic a spice taste as you can purchase commercially. The namesake root rests on the palate alone, working without any cinnamon or nutmeg to help capture the mood of those little men-shaped cookies. Instead the distilled "Mtn Dew" base, a lemon, lime and grapefruit trilogy that beeps each imbibe with its faint fruit impression. It is not half bad honestly, but twenty ounces is a lot to stomach for such a gimmicky libation. And perhaps the most egregious element is the sweetness, seventy two grams of high fructose corn syrup that melts into every nook and cranny your tongue offers, and every subsequent sip just furthers its saccharine excess instead of washing away what the former gulp left. Without any acidity to break through the sugariness, what began as a decent little experiment becomes just way, way too much.

Now this is just a soda, so caffeine hounds do not expect an energy drink kick. We do get ninety one milligrams of my namesake chemical, but the real potency is the sugar rush. In the end, Mtn Dew Gingerbread Snap'd is a lump of coal in the stocking.

Mtn Dew VooDew (2021) Soda Review

VooDew is back for the 2021 holiday season, for some reason. The label is only barely modified for this year, but the elixir inside is the same freaky albino fluid that looks like diaphanous milk. It is unappealing but somehow appropriate for its Halloween gimmick.

It is another "mystery flavor," which my first sip confirms my unfortunate suspicion that this is yet again not candy corn inspired. It is instead a sort of indistinct citrus blend of pineapple and lemon that is insecure in its own personality. It lays heavy into the sweetness instead of sourness, 270 calories of all high fructose corn syrup that packs the palate with unnecessary sugariness. By the halfway point all your tongue can detect is the carbohydrate, and when there are only a few drips left, your mouth is so soiled by this oily unessentiality. An artificial sweetener could have broken through the stalwart grossness, an unrefined experience that only makes sense when you realize that October 31st is all about candy excess.

There is 146% of your daily intake of added sugar, which summarizes all that is wrong with the soft drink industry. But it is OK if this is a "once in a while" treat and not routinely, but then I remember that this is the third anniversary of Mtn Dew VooDew, which is too close to "routinely" for my stomach to stomach.

Mtn Dew Baja Flash Soda Review

Coconut is a least favorite soft drink flavor of mine; beverages historically double-up on the artificial stuff, giving imbibes a taste best described as "suntan lotion." Could Mtn Dew break the curse? Who knows, but their presentation certainly helps. There is a fun surfer theme to the small real estate offered by the thin label, with its branding large and easy to read.

The scent wafting out of from the golden yellow elixir is nothing but horrific- heavy on the coconut and ignoring the pineapple, the other fruit allegedly involved. Sips are heavy and gummy, the seventy three grams of high fructose corn syrup rendering the experience practically unpalatable; the turgid texture crawling across your palate like chilled maple syrup. Your tongue forces the fluid along, coating every corner of your mouth in a desperate effort to move things along. Somehow though, even with almost 150% of your daily recommended intake of sugar, the formulators felt inclined to include sucralose as well, but the synthetic sweetener only makes an already excruciatingly saccharine system even sweeter! Some tartness, a stronger effervescence, something was needed to break up the grody monotony, but shamefully, Mtn Dew offers no such relief.

No one expects soda to be healthy, and it is not. That is fine though, in moderation of course, and especially when there is 280 calories and all those aforesaid carbohydrates. For us energy-hounds, we get a pleasant ninety two milligrams of caffeine, a perfectly fine amount considering that this is not an energy drink. Overall, Mtn Dew Baja Flash flexes no finesse, creativity or restraint.

Mtn Dew Zero Sugar Review

What is going on here? How is "Mtn Dew Zero Sugar" any different from plain old "Diet Mtn Dew?" Is this a simple rebranding? The front label of this familiar packaging boldly proclaims it as "new," yet does not mention what exactly is so different. Aside from confusing marketing, there are some differences, notably more caffeine (113 here, opposed to ninety one), in addition to totally zero calories (instead of ten calories), no orange juice, among other minor modifications. What does it all mean? Well, it is "Diet Mtn Dew" with extra "Diet."

The flavor won me over from first gulp, exposing an initially crisper, less obviously synthetic imagining of the timeworn soft drink. It is the same classic Dew everyone is familiar with, a guised blend of melon, lime, lemon, and grapefruit, most likely among many other nuances. The individual vegetation are advertised more than in the traditional low-carb offering from the company, with subtle moments where you can detect vague highlights of each produce profiled. Your sips end with little texturely left behind, a breath of fresh air when compared to the trademark syrupiness synonymous with the beverage. Yet it is not all rainbows here, thanks to aspartame, ace-k and sucralose commanding the sugar system. The threesome appear too aggressive, as the cleaner experience leaves your palate before it can properly wash the artificial saccharine sheath from your tongue, leaving it to burn slightly as your palate waits for the next sip. It is not bad overall, but if things were going to be so redundant, they should have worked out all the kinks.

Each bottle contain no caloric sugars and has a cool 113 milligrams of caffeine, rivaling some conventional energy drinks. For an old-school pick-me-up, it does the job, helping with the afternoon slump, but will not replace coffee or other hyper caffeinated potations. To end, Mtn Dew Zero Sugar feels unnecessary, although I am sure diet soda drinkers are happy to have someone offer them more options.
