While Cafe Energy Vanilla Sky is an energy coffee made by Hansen's, it's part of the Blue Sky product line. And though I've never reviewed any of their other energy products, I have seen them occasionally. Cafe Vanilla comes in a cream white can, with a small mountain range towards the bottom, and faint lightning cracking the sky. Both of these features are quite interesting, but they're just too underused to really get their point across. I'd rather see the lightning be part of the logo or something, but instead it's casually stated in the background. Another problem is the name "Cafe Energy." I know it's an energy product, and I know it's a cafe-style drink, but the name just sound like a generic term like "permanent marker."
While Cafe Vanilla Sky's taste isn't too far off from the other Hansen coffee drinks, it's not as good. The flavour's initially a creamy, though fake coffee taste with notes of vanilla and has a slight undercurrent of bitterness. The bitterness helps the coffee taste a bit more realistic, but in the end it still tastes fake. There's little sweetness to Cafe Vanilla, which will either be a positive or a negative for the drinker, and for me it's a positive. The overall flavour is pretty light, and that ends up making the experience rather bland. As far as energy coffee's go, this is much more of a middle of the road taste that's not poor enough to be skipped, but not good enough to be recommended.
Cafe Vanilla's energy cocktail is vastly similar to other Hansen drinks, which makes it probably my favorite part of the entire product. Ingredient highlights include: vitamin C, D, ginseng, taurine, caffeine, several B vitamins, guarana, inositol, calcium, and L-carnitine. For nearly four hours I felt rather energized, and the kick didn't end in a crash. Overall, while Hansen thankfully realized Cafe Vanilla Sky isn't worthy of being part of the Java Monster line, they sadly didn't realize that it isn't really worth being part of any line.
