Mad Croc Power Peppermint Energy Gum Review
Mad Croc Power Peppermint comes in a small blue box that successfully achieves looking aggressive. There's quite a bit of text, with a lot being unneeded, however I don't feel it hampers the design to a significant degree. The red crocodile works well with the blue, black, and white, and although it's a name that was birthed out of Red Bull's popularity, I wholly prefer it to most other animal themed energy products.
The flavour is slow in dilating from its initial frailness, and the texture is smooth however very rubbery. The texture does becomes more pliable soon after, and while this does increase throughout the experience, the gum never felt grainy or like it was decomposing. It did, although, eventually feel stiff and firm, but this point took a while to reach. Peppermint is the obvious focal point of the flavour, and it never becomes overwhelming and instead remains refreshing and relaxed. The duration of the peppermint was actually a bit longer than I was expecting, and while its strength did decrease gradually, it took a good eight to ten minutes before the gum rendered near or completely flavourless. I personally preferred the strength of the mint up until five minutes after the first chew, as from then on I felt it was too weak to qualify much more chewing. One concern for sugar free gum is that it may have a strong artificial sweetness, and thankfully this wasn't a problem. Overall, Mad Croc Peppermint tastes much like your commonplace peppermint gum and was just as enjoyable.
According to the equation on the box, I chewed the equivalent to one sixteen oz. energy drink, which is(or at least should be), the standard size of energy drinks. My level of energy was increased at a slow and almost plodding pace, and it grew for around an hour and a half before it laid steady for another two. The time was jitter free and didn't result in a crash. Overall, Power Peppermint is an impressive followup to Mad Croc Spiked Spearmint.
