Beaver Buzz Berry

While I didn't see it as a major accomplishment, Beaver Buzz Green Melon was an above average energy drink, and though I have a lot of other drinks I should be reviewing now, I'm just so eager to try the entire line, I'm reviewing another Beaver Buzz today. Beaver Buzz Berry is the flavour I chose today, but only because it was the first variety I grabbed in my mini-fridge. Though Berry and the rest of the line are twelve oz., unlike Melon, I still have high expectations in terms of flavour and appearance. But, will it be a respectful brother to Green Melon, or the red head stepchild?

FIRST IMPRESSION: Other then a simple colour and minor text change, the can is essentially a twelve oz. version of Green Melon's can. But I'm not saying that's a bad thing, however, as I liked Melon's can, and I actually like Berry's more. I prefer the blue over the green, and I feel the slim size fits the design better. One thing that I don't like is the little leaf above the slogan. It's unfitting, and tries too hard to tell the consumer the product's Canadian. Berry is the billed flavour, which is a rather broad flavour indication if you ask me. Though I've had my fair share of quality berry energy drinks, I've also had my (un)fair share of lackluster berry drinks.

TASTE: I opened the can and took a sip. The flavour begins a juice-like cranberry, with a natural level of sweetness, and a good amount of tartness. Then some pomegranate emerges, with a deep raspberry trailing behind. The pomegranate isn't terribly strong, allowing the raspberry to become the focus with a very realistic texture. The former blend does fade with time, allowing some notes of grape to show up and increase the complexity. The finish is tart, and consists of hints of grape and raspberry. The overall carbonation is medium, and the level of sweetness feels right for each fruit. Overall, Beaver Buzz Berry's taste reminds me of amp Elevate, only a lot better. It's very polished, and really kept me wanting to take another sip.

KICK: I generally expect a two to three hour buzz from energy drinks that are smaller than sixteen oz., and that's exactly what I got from Beaver Buzz Berry. I received a decent amount of energy, but it took a good forty five minutes after I (quickly) drank the entire can. Thankfully, the kick didn't end in a crash. This unsurprising and unimpressive kick was the result of: 1500mg of Taurine, 165mg of caffeine, fourteen.eight IU of Vit. E, ninety milligrams of Vit. C, nine milligrams of Vit. B6, two.five milligrams of Vit. B2, twenty seven micrograms of Vit. B12, 3750 IU of Vit. A, and 150mg of guarana and ginseng.

FINAL WORD: All in all, I feel that Beaver Buzz Berry is a worthy followup to Green Melon, and a pretty good energy drink on it's own. While the kick couldn't compete with some, more potent drinks, the can was attractive, and the taste really shined. Honestly, the taste was something I'd expect to belong from the GURU line, which is a compliment if I ever heard one. But the big question is, should you buy Beaver Buzz Berry? Well, it depends on who you are. If you're like me, and prefer taste over power, than I recommend tracking a can down, but if you'd rather be bouncing off the walls for four+ hours, then I can't...3.7/5
