Slap Strawberry Frost Frozen Energy Review

Strawberry Frost's packaging is decent, no worse than the previous varieties before it, but certainly not any better. The red works well against the graphite, however there is too much text for its own good, most useless and none explaining its 'frozen' gimmick.

Even with perspiration pouring off my forehead from the sauteing sun this morning, this vinyl vessel stayed solid beyond the broached three minutes. The flavor is obvious and alone on the tongue, as one dimensional as it is always, however this uncomplicatedness is magic in something so cold and refreshing on a day like this. Soon the frore flesh fluxes, with sleet suspended in the strawberry syrup, not unlike a beginner's homemade ice cream. But I sucked the glacial glue out at quite a pace, and despite my initial reluctance, this is surprisingly my favorite frozen flavor.

Taurine, B vitamins, and 140 milligrams of caffeine make up the chilled cocktail, though it is worth mentioning the product's twelve grams of fiber. The decent-strength buzz lasted no longer than two and a half hours. In the end, though one of the line's most mainstream flavor, Slap Strawberry Frost sadly suffers from an underexplained artifice.

Slap Lemonade Frozen Energy Review

Frozen Lemonade is a much more marketable flavour than is the apple variety, with ice pops and Italian ices and sherbets often tasting of the yellow fruit. Slap's packaging however, is unable to demonstrate what exactly people would be buying into, as its novelty cannot be explained with just words.

The inconsistent thawing allows for a turbid mush, a frigid soup thick with ice. It tastes obtusely of lemon, unnecessarily sweetened with little tartness. It has a discernible bite and is at first refreshing, but you grow bored with the ten ounces quickly and the saccharinity is promptly cloying. Possessing the plastic polar pouch proves problematic, not only for its cumbersomeness but also because the thin coat of ice breaks off and leaves a puddle, not to mention the lubrication does not make for an easy hold. Plus, actually consuming this in public is rather embarrassing, as the gimmick of sucking the nipple of a dripping, gelid bag is not common.

There is 140 milligrams of caffeine, some taurine, and varied quantities of several B vitamins. The energy cocktail can only muster up a two and a half hour buzz, jittery probably because of the sugar more so than anything. Overall, the laziness of the flavour pales in comparison to the brisk imagination of its niche sibling.

Slap Crisp Apple Frozen Energy Review

This is easily the most novel energy product of the year, with the gimmick of a take-home energy slush admittingly a pretty cool one. But that is not to say the packaging is all sound, as while the look is moderately consistent the pouch becomes a bit long winded, as the potency declaration and subjacent contest banner are too large if they need be present at all. It does standout among the other energy drinks on the shelve, though one does wonder why the consumer must freeze them themselves rather than directly purchasing them from the store's chill chest.

Stubbornly slippery and awkward in the palm, getting a firm hold of the ice crusted pouch proved harder than anticipated. The flavour is surprisingly familiar, tasting obviously of apples but laudably authentically, though the constant massage to persuade the slush to the top is wearisome. The experience is a refined pluralism of various varieties, none selectively seen and instead viewed as one, thick with dimension and incredibly complex. It is tart but balanced by its surpassing sweetness, thirty seven grams of nectar that surely contribute to the product's steep 230 calories. The texture to the frigid pulp is dense with ice shards but is otherwise smooth, though the consistency is actually more alike that of a swiftly thawing freezer pop rather than the machine churned Slush Puppie, Icee, or Slurpee found at any convenience store. Overall, though the flavour itself was nothing spectacular, the viscosity and method of consumption truly gave this its identity.

Each plastic purse provides: caffeine(140mg), taurine, and some B vitamins. Two plus hours lasted the buzz, of typical strength but not without jitters. In the end, Slap Crisp Apple Frozen Energy's arctic artifice is pretty cool, and overall it kicks some serious ice.

Slap Black and White Energy Coffee Review

Slap Black and White is a discontinued variety, sporting the line's previous design and logo, though it truly is an unimpressive can. Sure, the creamy background is unique, as is the hand palm emblem, but the binary colour scheme gets boring, and your eye cannot smoothly observe the can without losing focus.

The dusty can cracks open, unleashing the vague scent of coffee and displaying a mediocre head of foam. Your first sip, however, surprises you with carbonation, much like Jump Coffee Cola, and it is still something one must grow accustomed to. The actual flavour, vanilla coffee, is pedestrian, with the lack of cream not helping the beverage's already limited appeal. The java lacks an organic acidity, with a medicinal acerbity instead giving the drink its expected bite, an entirely unpleasant one at that. Fifty two grams of sugar should properly sweeten the experience, however the vanilla in particular tastes inappropriately alcoholic, much like how the extract of the expensive spice tastes straight. Overall, Slap Black and White is a painful expression of misguided creativity.

Each can contains: taurine, guarana, some B vitamins, and 200 milligrams of caffeine. The kick was rather impressive, lasting just under four hours, and did not result in a crash. All in all, Slap Black and White misfires on all cylinders.

Slap Crisp Apple Energy Drink Review

Green, silver, and a graphite-like black make up the colour concoction to Slap Crisp Apple's can, and the trilogy really livens the improved design and brings out its full potential. But don't go getting the idea that I feel the can is perfect, though, but I am hailing it as a much improvement over the earlier look. The text is mild though slightly busy towards the bottom, but for the most part the words are necessary. The silver and asphalt colour balancing works well, and especially pairs with the green of the logo. But speaking of which, I do dislike that the word "Slap" is written in two lines, as I feel it breaks up the drink's otherwise well done fluidity.

While I'm unsure if it too has been redone, Slap Crisp Apple's flavour starts with a low level tartness that alludes then is wholly followed by a mild melting pot of various apple varieties. The main variety is red delicious, albeit an interpretation that isn't as distinctly robust as it naturally is, and the fruit has a mild sweetness. Another variety that participates is the Jazz apple, however it's mostly braided with a bit of a golden ginger. The former provides a crisp juiciness and doesn't suffer from the drink's humble sweetness, and the latter gives faint spiced depth to the flavour as a whole. It spikes enough identity into the two; keeping the complex layering of slight tastes from blandly blending together. The experience has a mint suggestion that's buried deeply within the fruitiness, but it has a distinct presence that surprisingly bonds well with it. The experience is rather light on your palate, and unless you deeply view each passing sip with careful diligence, then the complexity could, and probably will, go without the appreciation that it deserves.

The beverage still provides an impressive kick despite the redesign. I had a solid four hour buzz that was laced lightly of jitters. Each can contains: caffeine(200mg), guarana, taurine, and a variety of B vitamins. All in all, Slap Crisp Apple's reinvented appearance can now finally match the quality of the taste and kick.

Slap Frost Low Calorie Energy Drink Review

Wal Mart definitely surprised me when I found a full shelf dedicated to the Slap line, and at a low $.98, I wasn't hesitant about picking up a can of the only variety left for me to review; Frost Low Calorie. It and its brothers have been given a much needed redesign since I last saw them, and since the line previously had used several different visages for each style of drink(whether it was tea, juice, etc.), the line now looks and feels consistent. I do, however, scorn the decision to break up the logo so it take up two lines, as it chops the fluidity that your eyes naturally take, and because it also possibly can be read as "SALP."

Slap Low Calorie's flavour begins with a faint chemical sweetness that's nether to a thin layer of vanilla. The latter doesn't taste premium or creamy but rather shoal and banal. This section of the experience creates a Red Bull clone allusion, but there are two things that ultimately prevent it from wholly becoming one. The first is a feeble citrus taste, with an equally flaccid sourness and no tartness. Of the citrus, lemon and grapefruit were the fruits that I detected, and they're effete strength doesn't permit them much time to develop depth or authentication. The second is the trademark cooling sensation which begins initially torpid, but the effect burgeons into a distinctly noticeable characteristic. There was ginger taste subjacent to the citrus duo, but it lacked the usual vigor of the spice, and thanks to both the low saccharinity and the near masking property of the chilling semblance, the ginger tasted dull and boring. Overall, Slap Frost Low Calorie doesn't have an actual taste that's worth writing home about, with the only selfhood appearing in the form of the cooling artifice.

Frost Low Calorie continues the line's tradition of solid kicks. I had an average level of energy and was greeted by occasional jitters. The buzz lasted four or so hours and didn't result in a crash. Each can contains: caffeine(200mg), taurine, guarana, and a few B vitamins. Overall, despite having both a sufficient can and kick, I feel that Slap Frost Low Calorie's under-brewed and gimmicky taste isn't deserving of a recommendation or much praise.

Slap Juicy Cherry Punch

My most recent trek to Big Lots was pretty mediocre, as most of the drinks were ones I had already reviewed, or ones that I can't yet bring my self to buy(Red Devil Light comes to mind). After I had grabbed several drinks for my own consumption, I noticed two red cans sitting on the shelf. They were Slap Juicy Cherry Punch. Remembering that I had not yet reviewed it, I grabbed one, made my purchase, and scampered out the door. Now, after the disappointment that was Slap Juicy Tropical, you'd think that I wouldn't be looking forward to reviewing Slap Cherry, but surprising, I am.

FIRST IMPRESSION: The can to Slap Juicy Cherry Punch uses the same failed design that Tropical did before it, but with more success. The red is much more pleasant than the green, and the flavour "cherry punch" leaves less of a mystery of what the flavour is than Tropical. Though the can is much better looking, there's still one big problem with the can, it's a cluttered mess. There is just too much going on. There's some weird red swirl in the background, the Slap logo, writing at the top, middle, and bottom of the can, and a large "Juicy" logo through the middle of it all. This one mistake make's the can of Slap Juicy Cherry Punch below average.

TASTE: I opened the can and took a sip. The flavour is hard to describe. It starts out light blend of various fruits, mainly pear, peach, cherry, and apple. The cherry and pear start the flavour, with the cherry being more noticeable than the pear. After the initial flavour fades, a light apple flavour begins to build, but is quickly overt taken by a stronger and more noticeable peach flavour. Slap Punch is not very sweet, which is rather disappointing given that it's supposed to be a "punch." Overall, I feel that Slap Juicy Cherry Punch is a decent tasting energy drink and while it may not be mouth watering-ly great, it is certainly worth $.60.

KICK: Each can contains: 100% of your daily intake of Vit. B3, B6, B12, forty two grams of sugar, pear juice concentrate, isomaltulose, maltodextrin, fructose, citric acid, Taurine, 200mg of caffeine, and guarana. This blend of ingredients gave me a pretty solid buzz. For around four+ hours I felt awake, refreshed, and full of energy. After the four+ hours, I began to drift back to normality. All in all, a great kick from Slap Cherry.

FINAL WARD: Overall, I feel that Slap Juicy Cherry Punch is a slightly above average energy drink. While the can failed to impress, the decent taste and great kick made up for it. Though it's far from the worst energy drink I've ever had, I'd have to say that I'm a disappointed with Slap Cherry Punch, and now that I think about it, the line as a whole. None of the drinks have been revolutionary, new, or innovative, just more like, fair to average. But to look on the bright side, at least they've all been drinkable. All in all, for $.60, Slap Juicy Cherry Punch is worth a purchase, but at $1.99, you should skip it...3.2/5

Slap Crisp Apple

Back in December of last year I reviewed Xenergy Big Apple and was overall impressed with it. But is wasn't until recently that I saw yet another apple flavoured energy drink, this time Slap Crisp Apple. Slap Crisp Apple is one of the few Slap energy drinks I have left to review, and probably the one I'm least excited for. The Slap line, as a whole, has been mediocre to good, so I can't see them making a true apple flavour.

FIRST IMPRESSION: I don't like the can, simple and put. The green doesn't work well with the overall can design, but it does make it jump off the shelves. One thing that doesn't excite me is that Slap Crisp Apple is a green tea. Why the hell would someone do that. A green tea apple energy drink? Now that is just bizarre.

TASTE: I opened the can and took a sip, the flavour starts out a a light Granny Smith apple flavour, with all the juices you get when eating the fruit it is trying to mimic. The apple isn't very sweet or tart, which I think really works well with the flavour. After the most of the apple flavour is over and gone, there is a slight green tea aftertaste, that instead of being on its own, mixes with a faint apple flavour. Overall, Slap Crisp Apple is right on par with Xenergy Big Apple and is definitely the best tasting and most unique flavour in the Slap line.

KICK: Each can contains: Carbonated water, Fructose, Citric Acid, Taurine, Natural Flavors, Potassium Citrate, Caffeine, Malic Acid, Green Tea Solids, Sucralose, Niacin, Guarana Extract, Yerba Mate, and Pyridoxine Hydrochloride. This potent blend gave me what the Slap line is know for, a great, health-like buzz. For around five or so hours I felt very refreshed, like I had just got a great night sleep. After the five hours I began to fade back to my normal state of being. Overall, a great kick from Slap Crisp Apple.

FINAL WARD:
Overall, I feel that Slap Crisp Apple is the most original and best energy drink in the Slap line. Everything except for the can was great. If the can was better, Slap Crisp Apple could of been an all over great energy drink. All in all, if your looking for an energy drink with a great taste and great kick and don't mind carrying around a lackluster can, pick up Slap Crisp Apple...3.9/5

Slap Juicy Tropical

First of all, I'm sorry for the scattered reviews lately, and as usual, I blame the common energy drink drought. But today I guess it must of down poured, because Big Lots was stocked with a bunch of new energy drinks, and one of them is Slap Juicy Tropical. Slap Juicy Tropical is one of the two flavours in the Slap Juicy line, the other being Cherry Punch. Now, the Slap line has been pretty average the past, but I'm curious to see how they executed the labeled "tropical" flavour. Personally, I hope that the flavour will be mostly citrus, as I have a love affair with citrus, but will Slap fulfill my hopes and expectations, or will they, like some, fail to meet them?

FIRST IMPRESSION: The can design is different from the design of the previous Slap drinks, and that's not for the better. The large "Juicy" is off-putting and would be more fitting on a Juicy Juice bottle than an energy drink. I also don't like the green background because green reminds me more of a forest than a tropical island. Overall, the can can't decide whether its an energy drink or a juice box.

TASTE: I opened the can and took a sip. The flavour is hard to describe. It starts out a light, seltzer-like pineapple juice flavour than lingers in your mouth for a brief while, then quickly fades away. I couldn't taste any other flavour than pineapple, which I have to say is rather disappointing. The flavour as a whole is not very sweet, bitter or sour, but instead very juice like, which I guess is only fitting given the whole "juicy" gimmick. Overall, I'm not too impressed with the flavour of Slap Juicy Tropical. I was hoping for more than just a pineapple flavour.

KICK: Each can contains: carbonated water, pear juice, sugar, taurine, peach juice, caffeine, malic acid, and vitamins B6, B3, and B12. This potent blend of ingredients gave me a long, health-like buzz. While I wasn't all hyped up or full of jitters, I did feel my alertness and mental being go up for a good four to five hours. After the four+ hours, I gently drifted back to normality. Overall, a solid kick from Slap Juicy Tropical.

FINAL WARD: From beginning to end, I have to say that I'm disappointed with Slap Juicy Tropical. While the kick was great, the can and taste were nothing to write home about. The can was definitely the weakest part of the whole drink, and the flavour was in the middle. Though the flavour was by no means bad, it wasn't any thing exceptional and was more like generic or mediocre. All in all, unless your only concern is getting health-like kick, I say either buy Slap Juicy Tropical at discount or skip entirely...2.9/5

Slap White Tea Energy Lemon Ice

One of the last Slap energy drinks I have currently is Slap White Tea Energy. The Slap line, so far, has been slightly above average, and I don't think its gonna change with Slap White Tea Energy. Slap White Tea Energy is one of the three tea varieties in the line, along with Slap Red Tea Citrus and Slap Green Tea Energy Crisp Apple. I've never had "white tea," but I'm guessing its a lighter type of tea than black or green.

FIRST IMPRESSION: The can made up mostly by silver with a solid strip of yellow on the bottom and the top, and a large hand giving off a yellow glow and a head on the palm of the hand. There is also a good amount of text, which I feel only clutters the can. Overall, I think that the can of Slap White Tea is the worst in the line so far. I don't the colour yellow for a energy drink can, as I think yellow is more of a crayon colour than a energy drink can colour. The design of the can I also don't like. The design looks like it took five minutes or so to make and the text makes figuring out what the actual flavour is difficult.

TASTE:
I opened the can and I smelt the clear liquid. The scent is similar to Sprite or 7-Up. The flavour starts out as a light lemon lime mix with a low amount of carbonation, then fades away leaving a slight tea taste in your mouth. Its not very sweet and is very light. Overall, I feel that Slap White Tea Lemon Ice is a decent tasting energy drink. While the flavour isn't anything special, its at least drinkable and is a decent energy tea.

KICK: Each can contains: Carbonated water, Fructose, Citric Acid, Taurine, Natural Flavors, Caffeine, Green Tea Solids, Sucralose, Niacin, Guarana Extract, and Yerba Mate. This blend of ingredients gave me a pretty good kick. While I didn't feel jittery, I felt full of energy and had a raised mental alertness. While it wasn't as strong as some, it certainly woke me up, and kept me up for a good five hours.

FINAL WORD: Overall, Slap White Tea Energy Lemon Ice is a decent energy drink, just like the rest in the line. Though no drink in the line was down right terrible, I'm disappointed by the line as a whole. The Slap line could of been great and revolutionary, but somewhere they got lost in the average side of town. Though there have been greater disappointments in life(such as Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull), but for an energy drink line with so much potential, it just disappoints...3.4/5

Slap Red Tea Citrus

*start commercial mode: "From the dark depths of Portsmouth NH, comes a new breed of energy drinks, Slap Red Tea Citrus. See this monster destroy the insides of your body, give you energy and slap you upside your bitch-ass. Coming to a Big Lots near you." end commercial mode* Just having some fun there. Anyway, Slap is back with Slap red Tea Citrus, a new(er) flavour from the people at Brain Twist. The first Slap drink I reviewed, Slap Frost Energy+Sensation, was a overall good energy drink, doing nothing more than being a good energy drink, but despite that, I don't have very high hopes for Slap Red Tea Citrus, as I'm not a tea boy... nor do I know what red tea is...

FIRST IMPRESSION:
I find the can to Slap Red Tea Citrus to be above average, and is borderline good. The large hand is now giving off a red glow, which adds to its appeal compared to the original. I also like the combination of red and silver, though I'd like to see more red than silver. One complaint that I have about the can is that it is hard to figure out what the flavour is. The redness of the can and the "red" in the name say that its gonna be of the cherry variety, but the "citrus" tag says something different. This isn't something a product should say. Overall, the can is an improvement over the original, but I don't think its all too impressive.

TASTE: I opened the can and poured it in a glass. I was somewhat surprised to find that it turned out to be a clear-ish colour with some yellow hints. This is something I wouldn't expect from a "red" tea drink, but that's probably because of my lack of knowledge in tea. The flavour is also not what If expect from a tea. Slap Red Citrus starts out with some subtle lemon and lime flavours, with the tea riding in back. Then a nice level of carbonation and some light orange and tangerine finishes the flavour off. The citrus isn't sour, and the tea isn't bitter, which really surprised me and makes Slap Red Tea Citrus a smooth drink. The sweetness level is low, which I feel only adds to the flavour. Overall, a huge improvement from Slap Energy+Sensation, and is an overall interesting drink.

KICK: Each can contains: Carbonated water, Fructose, Citric Acid, Taurine, Maltodextrin, Natural Flavors, Caffeine, Green Tea Solids, Sucralose, Salt, Niacin, and Guarana Extract. This energy blend gave me a decent buzz, in terms of strength. But in terms of length, it was great. For five or so hours, my alertness was raised and had a decent amount of energy. There were no jitters and there was no crash. Overall, the kick from Slap Citrus Tea was solid.

FINAL WARD: From start to finish, I have to say that I'm pretty impressed with Slap Red Ta Citrus. The can was appealing, the taste was great, and the kick was long lasting, making Slap Red Citrus an above average energy drink and an overall fun energy drink to... drink. Though I have only reviewed two Slap energy drinks, I feel that so far Slap energy is one of the more interesting energy lines since Stoked...3.8/5

Slap Energy+Sensation

My local Big Lots brought me several surprises the other day, and one of the most notable of them was Slap Energy+Sensation. While I have heard great things about the line, I have never reviewed one, hell tried one myself, so finding three different varieties was a great surprise. Slap Energy+Sensation is produced for Brain Twist Inc. in New York. Slap is not the first energy drink to claim to have "sensational properties," as several Stoked drinks also made this claim. And the Stoked energy drinks with the sensations were great, so my expectations for Slap Energy+Sensations are unfairly high...

FIRST IMPRESSION: I like the can of Slap. The red and black really blend well together, and the hand and smiley-face-gone-bad really help set the mood... for a Red Bull clone. I'm sorry, but I really feel that Slap will be a Red Bull. Not only does the lack of flavour indication help my theory, but the red and black also remind me of a Red Bull clone, as red cans and black cans often indicate a Red Bull clone. But that aside, the can's at least good looking for what it is, and for promising a sustained high octane kick.

TASTE: I opened the can and too my surprise, the colour is crystal clear. This is a sign of originality. The flavour's also unique. It starts out with a refreshing citrus flavour that quickly fades away, leaving only some mild bitterness behind. Though I really like the initial flavour, I 'm extremely disappointed in the lack of any "sensation" in the flavour. I drank the whole can with out any sort of "sensation". Maybe its expired?

KICK: Each can contains: 220 calories fifty two grams of fructose, isomaltulose, taurine, maltodextrin, caffeine, sucralose, salt, guarana, and B12, 6, and 3 Vitamins. Overall, this list of ingredients gave me a buzz a little above average, but nothing spectacular. While the kick wasn't the strongest, it sure did last a long time. For about five hours I was wide awake and my alertness was raised. I didn't notice any jitters, as it felt more like a healthy buzz than some kicks do.

FINAL WARD: Overall, I feel that Slap Energy+Sensation is an overall good energy drink. While nothing has been completely revolutionary, nothing has really been standard or done before, so for that, it gets kudos. While I'm highly disappointing in the lack of any sensation, the flavour that I did taste was at least good enough to keep me drinking it. All in all, a good first attempt at an energy drink from the people at Brain Twist Inc. With a little more work, I think that Slap could turn into one of the best energy drink lines, but for now, its just good...3.5/5
