Stoked Juiced Tropical Orange Review

Today I'm gonna try a new style for this review. Like myself, many other energy drink review web logs use the "Taste, Kick, etc." category style, but some use the less popular style of not labeling it or putting it in to categories. So today I'm gonna use the less popular style. Now, I don't plan on permanently changing my reviewing ways, but if I find it easier to write and the readers find it clearer and easier to read, I'll consider it. Anyway, on to the review. The Stoked line of energy drinks is one of the best lines of energy drinks since GURU, so it's a shame to see it come to an end. It seems every time I find a great line of energy drinks the line goes by like that. 'Tis a shame. Stoked Juiced Tropical Orange comes in the standard colour for juice energy drinks now a days, orange. The orange doesn't work too well with the bad ass dragon on the can. Why orange with a dragon? It doesn't make sense. Overall, the can's below decent.

I opened the can and was hit with the standard energy juice smell, maybe a little less rough. I took a sip and was hit by a surprisingly light sparkling orange flavour that is neither too tart or too sweet. It's different from most energy juices because its not a mix of juice concentrates, but instead focuses more on the orange flavour. I do taste some mango in there, but most of the flavour is left to the orange. There's also a mildly unnoticeable white grape flavour in there too, but comes out more towards the end and doesn't last long. Overall, the flavours actually very good, beating out most energy juices, but I have to say its my least favorite Stoked energy drink.

After downing the can I immediately felt more awake and had more energy. The juice made me feel healthy and the lack of HFCS helped the buzz last a good four plus hours and give no crash. Each can contains seventy% juice, 180% or Riboflavin, 200% of Niacin, 160mg of caffeine, 500% of Vit. B6, and 2000mg of Taurine. All in all, I feel that Stoked Orange is the worst in the series, but then again, that's an honor all on its own. Overall, I have to say I'm wildly impressed with the Stoked Energy line. Each drink, while some not as good as others, were a unique take on common flavours and generally a fun experience. It's sad that the line is coming to an end. Some could say that Stoked Sugar Free is still left un-reviewed by me, but I don't usually count sugar free energy drinks as "energy drinks." I'm more of a high calorie, full sugar kind of guy.

Stoked Original

Some of the best energy drinks in recent memory are from the Stoked line, and so today I decided to review the original Stoked energy drink... Stoked Original. Stoked Original is the only one in the Stoked line to have four packs, which I might buy if this drink turns out to be as great and as impressive as the others in the line...

FIRST IMPRESSION: Though I like the can of Stoked Original, I have to say that I prefer Wind Chill, After Burn, and even Dragonfruit over Original. Why, because Original is just too empty and is just screaming Red Bull clone. The other Stoked energy drinks at least had some type of background for the image, but all that Stoked has is black. The can reminds me tremendous of Joker Mad Energy because they both have a black background, and the bad ass image. Overall, while the can's not as appealing as the other Stoked drinks, but its still good...3.4/5

TASTE: I opened the can and took a sip. The flavour's best described as a Red Bull clone, but with gumminess and more of a tart, sour flavour. I couldn't detect any vanilla in it, like many other Red Bull seem to be plagued with. Just like Wind Chill and After Burn, there's some weird sensation left behind after a couple of sips. Its not a minty sensation like the one found in Wind Chill, nor is it a numbness feeling like in After Burn, but its very own, unique sensation that is not as prominent as the sensation found in Wind Chill and After Burn. Overall, I like the taste of Stoked Original, really like it. While it is a Red Bull clone, it has enough things added and taken out to make it much more unique and avoids being a complete Red Bull clone...4.7/5

KICK: Each can contains: carbonated water, sugar, citric acid, taurine, glucuronolactone, ginseng root powder, caffeine, inositol, B Vitamins, and guarana. This impressive blend of ingredients gave me one killer buzz, in true Stoked fashion. The buzz lasted around four+ hours, with no crash, because of smart choice to use real sugar instead of HFCS...4/5

FINAL WERD: Overall, I'm extremely pleased how Stoked Original turned out. While the can, in all its bad ass-ness, was lacking a bit, the interesting take on the classic Red Bull flavour, and the powerful kick made up for the can. I can say that Stoked may be the best energy drink line since the GURU line, but that's what worries me. How? Well, since there is only one more Stoked to review, Tropical Orange(there's also a sugar free version, but I really don't like to consider s/f versions as energy drinks, maybe 3/5th of an energy drink...), and all the Stoked's have been great, but so were the drinks in the GURU line, until I tried Green Tea Honey Lemon, which wasn't good. So I'm hoping that Tropical Orange doesn't turn out like GURU Honey Green Tea Lemon and is just as good as its Stoked brothers and sisters...4/5

Stoked Dragonfruit

Stoked is one of my favorite line of energy drinks lately, so when they chose to release a dragonfruit variety, I got kinda scared. All the dragonfruit energy drinks I've ever had were either only decent or downright terrible, so when a comapny that's been praised for its great flavours, you hope that they don't follow in the foot steps of the other dragonfruit energy drinks...

FIRST IMPRESSION: The can to Stoked Dragonfruit is pretty cool looking, as not many energy drink cans feature a dragon on a castle wall spitting... nothing? What, is the dragon just yodeling? All the other Stoked energy drinks had the dragon either blowing fire or ice wind, so why not dragonfruit? I guess picking something for the dragon to spew was more difficult, because of the flavour, but the dragon could always be spitting out dragon heads in the shape of fruits from its mouth, that would be cool. Overall the can's pretty good looking, but its still the worst in the series...3.5/5

TASTE: I opened the can and took a sip. The flavours best described as light blue raspberry, with just the right tartness and sweetness, which only add to the flavour. There's a sour flavour that it makes you pucker a little, that's not as overwhelming as Warheads, but instead like sour gummy worms. The drink goes down pretty smooth, and though the drinks very good, its best drank in smaller sips, apposed to large gulps. One thing of interest is that there's no numbness or other strange sensation that goes on in the back of your throat like the other drinks in the Stoked line. This could either be a plus or minus, depending on who you are. Overall, the flavour's very good, easily the best dragonfruit energy drink I've ever had/reviewed...4.5/5

KICK: Each can contains: 2000mg of Taurine, 160mg of caffeine, 400mg of Ginseng, 100mg of Inositol, 500% of your daily intake of Vit. B6, 160% of Vit B12, and 180% of your daily intake of one of the coolest words, Riboflavin. This potent mix of ingredients really rocked me for four+ hours. I felt rather jittery, nervous, and very alert. I also didn't feel any sort of crash, this probably happened because of the lack of HFCS and the use of real sugar...4/5

FINAL WERD:Personally, I feel that Stoked Dragonfruit is an energy drink from a company that really knows what to do and what not to do. Though I'm gonna have to say that this is the worst drink in the Stoked line, but that's not a bad thing, hell, its an honor. All in all, the drink should not be turned down by anyone in need of some sustained energy and/or a pleasant dragonfruit flavour...4/5

Stoked Wild Chill

The other day I reviewed Stoked After Burn, and to my surprisement, it was one of the most impressive energy drinks I've ever had, so when I had the chance to review another Stoked, this time Stoked Wild Chill, I jumped right to it. The Stoked line of energy drinks has been really impressive, though it may be too early to say that...

FIRST IMPRESSION: The can uses the same design that After Burn used, but with some mild changes. First, the dragon's spitting a cold breeze instead of fire, and second, the flames in the background are now icicles. Usually, I despise it when energy drinks from the same line use the same core design, but since the can's still kick ass, I don't despise it. Actually, I really like the can. It fits the name "Wind Chill" very well, though, knowing what "Wind Chill" really means is hard. I'm guessing some kind of blue raspberry flavour, like the one found in amp Elevate, though maybe less amp flavour and with some more berry flavour...4.5/5

TASTE: Upon opening the can, I noticed a much lighter scent than what I expected. Much like Sprite or 7-Up, and maybe with some ginger ale hints. The flavour's best described as lemon-lime upfront, which lingers in your mouth for a while, letting the lime take control towards the end, and then a minty sensation hits the back of your throat, like you just had a tame mint. I really enjoy the flavour, and taste's similar to Full Throttle, only more developed and better tasting...4.8/5

KICK: Each can contains: 160mg of caffeine, 2000mg of Taurine, 400mg of Ginseng, 100mg of inositol, 10mg of Guarana, 1200mg of Glucuronolactone, 500% of Vit. B6, 160% of Vit. B12, and 180% of Riboflavin. This blend gave me pretty impressive buzz. I felt nervous, jumpy, alert, and chilly(chilly, Wind Chill... get it?). It was a sustained buzz, lasting around four hours or so...4/5

FINAL WERD: Overall, I feel that Stoked Wind Chill is a great energy drink. Everything about its really great, something that can't be said about most energy drinks now a days. Another thing that's hard to say about most, scratch that, nearly all U.S. energy drinks is that Stoked doesn't contain HFCS, but natural sugar. I feel this was why I received such a sustained buzz. The companies web site said that its currently expanding into the U.S. market, which is really good news to me...4.4/5

Stoked After Burn

My most recent trip to Big Lots gave me lots of energy drinks that I have never seen before, and one of those drinks is the Stoked Energy line. Big Lots seemed to have the whole line, except there low sugar variety, which I can imagine, wouldn't be as good as I hope the rest of the line is. Stoked Energy is a Canadian drink, and made by Leading Brands. I haven't had a drink from Leading Brands, nor have I ever had a Canadian drink, so this could turn out to be the experience of a life time, or, more commonly, a one way trip to Hell...

FIRST IMPRESSION: The can's one of the best can's since Throwdown Rampage Sugar Free. Its not too often you see a dragon swiftly moving around in a "5" like pattern, over flames on a red can. I'm guessing, because of the red colour, that its gonna be a full fledged(this) cherry flavour, and maybe some pomegranate thrown in to the mix. Overall, the can's wildly impressive, but, will the flavour live up to my expectations...4.8/5

TASTE: I opened the can and was hit by a faint strawberry smell. I took a sip. The flavour is best described as raspberry, with some pineapple, lime, with some mild apple and lemon with atangerine sting. Its a rather light flavour, not too sweet, but just sweet enough. There's a strange sensation that goes on after you drink it. Its sort of raspy, with some mild numbness. Overall, this is one of the best tasting energy drinks I've ever had, being right up there with Boo Koo Punch and Ole'...4.9/5

KICK: Each can contains: 160mg of caffeine, 2000mg of Taurine, 400mg of Ginseng, 100mg of inositol, 10mg of Guarana, 500% of Vit. B6, 160% of Vit. B12, and 180% of Riboflavin. This blend, along with natural sugars, as it contains no HFCS, gave me a pretty wicked buzz(Damn, my Maine accent is showing again...). While no jitters or twitches were detected, I did feel like dancing to Rockface Rumble. I felt pretty alert and aware of my surrounding, and these feelings lasted around four or five hours...4/5

FINAL WERD: Overall, this is one of the most impressive energy drinks I've ever come across. The flavour, can, and kick were all great, making the expectations of the other varieties very high. But if I was to praise just one of these area's, I'd have to praise the taste. I'm sorry, but the taste is truly exceptional...4.6/5
