Blue Sky Juiced Energy Drink Review

Blue Sky's Juiced Energy looks identical to what did nine years ago, save for this being the smaller variety. Everything is painfully ancient, an almost generic looking produce that should have died off of shelves years ago.

Potent graininess thrusts the fruit cocktail onto your palate, mostly apple and pineapple flavored despite white grape, peach, pear, tangerine and orange juice bulking up the fifty percentage of juice on the ingredients list on the back of the tiny can. The lost citrus adds just enough acidic humanity to the otherwise blandly sweet experience, one tasting purely of sugar nectar for most of the eight ounces. Carbonation lifts this deadened cruise through the fruit aisle beyond what it deserves, elevating this disappointing myriad of produce into the realm of decorousness.

Each can contains: caffeine, inositol, B vitamins, taurine, and ginseng. It is your standard blend from years past, a relic of hour and a half long kicks with sugar jitters. Overall, Blue Sky Juiced Energy is a fun reminder of what the energy drink market used to resemble, and may be worth the trip down memory lane.

Rumba Energy Juice Review

Rumba is the final drink of the Rumba Trilogy of energy juices, and while it cost me more than the previous drinks($2.20 compared to $.55), I bought it at a small farm stand that only sold organic soda and their own cows milk, so I guess the price is justified in that sense. Rumba's can is a bit different from others in the line, but as someone who didn't really like their cans, it's a step in the right direction. I like the lights shooting off the orange, and I feel the colours are of the correct proportion and offset each other well.

Rumba's flavour begins a pear and white grape braid wholly immersed within a thick gummy orange taste. This gives a true sense of depth and complexity to the flavour. The three fruits taste sufficiently authentic, but the orange borderlines artificial because of the stitched on gumminess. Soon the orange grows ornamented by a dense sour apple taste that complements the initial pear well. The apple has a pineapple flavour beneath, and while the actual taste is meek, it adds a sharpness trademark to the fruit. The sharpness, however, is leveled not only by the sourness of the apple, but also partly by a tangy sting of a newly appearing and evanescent tangerine. Following is an initial aspect of peach that's briskly limited by a cascade of a coarse sweetness that smears over the overall taste and gives the fluid a rough texture. The experience ends with the latter and a prominent citric bite. All in all, Rumba's taste is an all too familiar one that I enjoyed but was a bit bored with.

Caffeine(170mg), guarana, taurine, inositol, vitamin C, and several B vitamins are the highlights of Rumba's ingredient cocktail. I gradually grew a steady energy level that climaxed at the three and a half hour mark. I crashed slightly and there was no jitters. In the end, Rumba doesn't do anything to excite or disappoint fans of energy juices.

Juiced Energy Drink Review

Although Juiced Energy is the last Blue Sky energy drink I have, it easily has the best can in the line. The orange-ish red fading to yellow really looks nice above the still underwhelming mountains, however, the design still has problems, namely with the text. Three times the word "juice" and the word "energy" appear on the can's face, with is unnecessary. If the name of the drink is "Juiced Energy," then there's absolutely no reason to say juice and energy two more times. Given Juiced Energy is made by Hansen, I'm almost positive that its taste will end up being some sort of variation of their other juice drinks.

Juiced Energy is in fact similar to the many other Hansen energy juices, but there is enough things different to prevent it from being the same. It's rough through out most of the experience, and it's initially strong on the pineapple and the mango. Both are sweet and fairly tart. The mango and pineapple has an undercurrent of tangerine and peach, and as time goes, they lose strength to the braid. The tangerine is a bit more dominate than the peach, but they're both noticeable and rather tangy. The experience then grows a bit smoother, and there's a slight apple hint proceeding the peach. All the fruits taste rather authentic, though I wouldn't go so far as to say they taste freshly squeezed. There's a chemical finishing note that's difficult to describe, but it's quickly apparent to the drinker. Because Juiced Energy tastes so much like the popular Monster Khaos, I did enjoy the taste, even if it's not the best variety of the flavour.

Juiced Energy's energy cocktail is potent with vitamin A, taurine, caffeine, vitamin C, inositol, several B vitamins, and L-carnitine. I felt mildly more focused, and I had a good amount of energy that lasted no less than three and a half hours. However, the kick did end in a crash. All in all, Juiced Energy isn't different enough from any of the other Hansen juices for it to be worth looking hard for.

Ninja Five-0

While shopping at my local Big Lots, I went to pick up a can of ...lost Five-0, but when I saw its price tag, I about had a heart attack. $.75 is how much they charge for ...lost Five-0, and being the most expensive sixteen oz. energy drink I've ever bought at Big Lots, it better wow me in the can, kick, and taste categories. The ...lost line has been countlessly compared to the Monster line, given they're both made by Hansen's, and from my experience, I'd say the comparisons are fair. The can to most ...lost's even say "...We got the guys at Monster to make this drink," which I feel is just a way for Hansen's to make more money with nearly the same formulation of one drink.

FIRST IMPRESSION: In true ...lost fashion, the can is cluttered with random objects, though when compared to the previous varieties, it's to a lesser extent. The logo is a real problem as it hides quite a bit of the can space, leaving really only part of the sides to be cluttered. The white colour of some of the text clashes with the black and orange can, but I can't think of any other colour that would of worked. Either way, the can's cluttered nature works in its favour, and it certainly will gain peoples attention. I personally don't get the name "Five-0." While it fits because it's fifty percent juice, I just don't understand why they would want to refer to cops on an energy drink can, especially since I've never seen a cop drinking an energy drink. Hansen has made several of the juice-like energy drinks I've tried, namely Joker Juice, Unbound Juice, and Monster Khaos, and with a track record like that, I'm generally looking forward to the rest of ...lost Five-0.

TASTE: I opened the can and took a sip. When the liquid hits your taste buds, initially a cross between a tart orange and tangerine is the main focus point of the flavour. It constantly switches between the two, which helps the drink become rather complex. A hint of passion fruit emerges once the prior alloy fades, only to be lost in a sharp pineapple and mild mango brew. A moderate rise of sweet of sweetness begins along side the mango, but quickly loses strength while a subtle peach comes and finishes the flavour. ...lost Five-0's taste is smooth and refreshing, and while it may be familiar, it's still a good tasting juice energy drink.

KICK: Each can contains: fifty percent juice, guarana, ginseng, eight percent of your daily intake of Vit A, 500% of your daily intake of Vit B6, 160% of your daily intake of Vit. B12, 100% of your daily intake of Pantothenic Acid, 2000mg of Taurine, 160 mg of caffeine, and 200% of your daily intake of Niacin, and Riboflavin. This overall blend of ingredients raised my mental alertness, gave me a good amount of energy, and gave me a mild case of the jitters. It lasted four hours and it ended in no crash.

FINAL WERD: For my first review in 2010, ...lost Five-0 rubbed me the right way, and was a good way to start off the new year. While I didn't like some aspects of the drink, namely the can and the recognizable taste, from an overall perspective, ...lost Five-0 is a good drink. While I don't think releasing several, um, varieties of the same flavour is a smart move by Hansen's, the flavour is at least a good one, and it's interesting to see the different high-lights each drink seems to have. I've had nearly all the different types of the juice energy drink by Hansen's, and I feel ...lost Five-0 is one of the better types...3.7/5

Monster Khaos

When someone says the word "energy drink," chances are your first thought will be either Red Bull, or Monster. That is saying a lot. With a name so big, you'd expect nothing but greatness, but as we all know, that is not what we usually get. Other than the side line of coffee flavoured drinks, Java Monster, the Monster line has been sub par with mediocre. None of the drinks really stand out and are usually "been there done that" varieties, and it looks like that won't change with Monster Khaos. Monster Khaos is one of the three juice extension of the Monster line, with the others being Mixxed and M-80. Since Kaos is made by Hansen's(or Baron K. Roolenstein), I think it is safe to guess that it will taste similar to Unbound Juice, or Joker Juice.

FIRST IMPRESSION: The can of Khaos uses a modified Monster can design, and the results I think are quite good. The large orange M fits the black background and industrial panel nicely. Other than the pathetically bad and cliche' writing on the back of the can, I really don't have any complaints on the can of Monster Khaos. Overall, a good can from Monster.

TASTE: I opened the can and took a sip. The flavour starts out a sweet blend of fresh tangerine and peach, with the peach taking over the beginning, fading out towards the middle to let the tangerine shine, then it finishes with more peach. The initial peach flavour is less sweet and and a little more bitter than the tangerine or the later peach flavour, which are sweet and tangy. Monster Khaos is surprisingly smooth and has a clean finish, which is something to be said about carbonated juice-like energy drink.

KICK: Each can contains: thirty four g of sugar, thirty four g of carbs, eighty percent of vit. A, forty percent of vit. C, 2000mg of taurine, 5000mg of Monster's energy blend, and 200% of Vit. B1, B2, B3, B6, and B12. Though the ingredients were there, I just didn't receive a good kick from Monster Khaos. For around three hours I felt mildly awake, but nothing to pay $2.30 on.

FINAL WORD: In the end, Monster Khaos is a pretty good overall energy drink and the best in the Monster line(excluding the Java Monsters). While the kick was disappointing for a Monster drink, and for energy drinks in general, the kick is not the most important thing for me in an energy drink. Personally, I think that the taste is the most important part of an energy drink, because if people didn't want to enjoy the flavour, they would just buy energy shots or pills. Rant and kick aside, Monster Khaos is a pretty good overall energy drink. All in all, if your looking for a good juice-like energy drink that won't have you bouncing off the wall, buy Monster Khaos...3.8/5

Unbound Energy + Juice

Big Lots has once again brought me another popular of energy drink that I could never find for the discount price of $.60. Unbound energy is a drink that numerous people around my school drink, but sadly those mean pricks don't share... Anyway, I could only find Unbound Energy + Juice, so that's the only Unbound I'm gonna be able to review...

FIRST IMPRESSION: The can to Unbound Energy + Juice, I feel, is only decent. I know its going for the hard core look, but it simply falls flat on its can. I do like the weird blade thing around the "U," as it adds some badass-ness to it, but it sadly looks out of place on the rust-look can...3/5

TASTE:
I opened the can and took a sip. The flavour is best described as a Red Bull clone base, with some mango, apple, pear, and pineapple mixed in. The mango, apple are more noticeable, leaving only a faint trail of pineapple and pear more towards the end. Its not overly sweet nor tart. Surprisingly, it goes down smooth. Overall, the flavour's not half bad, and kinda reminds me of Joker Juiced, though not as good...3.2/5

KICK: Each can contains: Carbonated water, sucrose, fruit juice concentrates (water, pear, apple, pineapple, passionfruit juice concentrates), glucose, taurine, sodium citrate, This mix of ingredients gave me a pretty wicked buzz. I felt wide awake and rather jittery. The buzz lasted around four to five hours, until I almost collapsed of exhaustion. Overall, the buzz's the high light of the drink...4.4/5

FINAL WORD: Overall, I feel that Unbound Energy + Juice is only a decent drink at best. The only the reason I'd drink it again is for a quick, cheap buzz. Upon further inspecting of the web, I found that Unbound is a Hansen product, the makers of ...lost, Joker, Ace, Monster, and there own energy line. How many freakin' lines of energy drinks does one company need? Most of them taste similar to one another, so I've concluded that all Hansen cares about is money. Which is weird because its gotta be the worlds first greedy health food company...3.5/5

Joker Mad Energy + Juice Re-Review

When I got home today, I remembered that I haven't reviewed an energy drink since Monday, and that I was seriously due for a review. So I grabbed the first energy drink I could see in whats left of my once tall and mighty energy drink puddle, and it happened to be Joker Mad Energy + Juice. Now, I have already reviewed Joker + Juice, but I really like re-reviewing energy drinks, it gives me a chance of correcting my earlier mistakes when I first reviewed a drink, and the mistakes I made in my original Joker + Juice are obvious, painfully obvious. I barley described the taste, and I didn't include a kick overview. So I decided to stick with re-reviewing Joker + Juice, but, will I improve on the review, or will I rip you off yet again...

FIRST IMPRESSION: The can, isn't too impressive. I like the original Joker can, but the design just doesn't work well with orange. One(1) thing that bugs me is that the same thing is written on the side of the can as the original Joker. Why wouldn't change it? Its a different variety, it would make sense to change it. What if Super Mario Bros. 3 had the same box art, just in a different colour, and the same description of Super Mario Bros.? It would make no sense and be down right idiotic. Monster also is at fault of saying the same thing over and over again, excluding extensions such as Java Monster and Monster Assault...2.3/5

TASTE: When I opened the can, I was greeted by a rather disgusting mix of Sunkist Orange soda, and a Red Bull clone. I cautiously took a sip, and was rather surprised with the flavour. Its best described as a Red Bull base, with mango, pear, passionfruit, and orange. The mango isn't too heavy, leaving much more attention to pear, passionfruit, and orange. Upfront, the pear and orange hit your taste buds, then fades away to a mix of passionfruit and some mild mango. The taste reminds me of RockStar Juiced, only not as smooth. Overall, a pretty good tasting drink, though the non-smoothness doesn't help with the sixteen(16) oz. size of the drink, which deducts some in the final score...3.4/5

KICK: Each can contains: 400mg of Panax Ginseng, 2000mg of Taurine, 200% Vitamin B12, 200% of Vitamin B6, 200% of Niacin, 30% of Vitamin C, 200% of Riboflavin, and 80% of Vitamin A. Now, this is what I'm talking about... Joker Mad Energy + Juice gave me a wicked buzz, true Hansens style. After drinking the whole can, I received massive jitters, twitches, and felt like going crazy like a real Joker is. While the kick isn't as good as Power Trip Mango, its still wildly impresssive...4.5/5

FINAL WORD: Overall, I'm impressed with the performance of Joker Energy + Juice, in the taste and kick department. The taste was pretty good and the kick knocked my socks off, while the can kinda sucked. Its weird how a lot of the powerful energy drinks have bad cans. Examples of this are : The Xenergy Line, Go Fast, RockStar Juiced, and Who's Your Daddy. I get kinda pissed off when this happens. Costumers get the wrong impression of these truly great drinks, and instead go for bad, but good looking energy drinks like Red Devil, Monster Assault and Venom. Its a shame really, it truly disappoints me when things don't get the attention they deserve...3.4/5
